Service costs over 5 years.

Year 1 - £235

Year 2 - £528.40

Year 3 - £426.42

Year 4 - £1171.28 with fuel filter

Year 5 - £464.56

These seem somewhat inflated. Not in a high labour rate city..1st service oil / filter change and a sump ring..£235.It only takes half hour for oil change.

I've just booked my 3rd 45,000 Mike service for £221. Prices seem to be a lot cheaper than original quotes.

I am in France and I paid 188 euros (164 £) for the first service (24 000km). The most expensive will be the 4th one at +/- 500 euros (438 £). But prices depend on the dealer. It can vary from one to two times the price.

I’ve just signed up for a 3 year service and MOT plan for my 2023 MG4 for years 4, 5 and 6 at an MG main dealer. Total cost £940 at £26.87 per month for 36 months. As MOTs would cost me £54 and AA Home Start £119 I reckon it’s costing me an average of £141 for each service, which seems OK to me, especially as prices are bound to be higher in 3 years. I guess prices may be different for different areas and dealers.

They have according to my dealer gone up a tad with the most expensive service now costing £1,250.
This is absolutely obscene for what is essentially oil change, filters, brake fluid and a hybrid battery filter. This is one of the main reasons I haven't gone out and purchased one, I just can't justify those costs.

Put it this way, my current 15 year old Renault Megane isn't worth much more than that with 74K on the clock and has years of life in it yet.

Just shows how much of a rip off the MG3 servicing is compared to an MG4. Saying that, there is no oil or oil/air filter to change

This sounds pretty reasonable.

Where are you? I'm in France too, East, Nancy, my 4 year service has been quoted over 800 euros at Theobald MG, rip off.

I'm from the Sarreguemines area. I have two MG dealerships nearby, Forbach and Saint-Avold.
I bought mine in Saint-Avold and that's also where I had the first service done.

My 5-year plan costs me £27.45 per month = £329.40 each year. The last two years also include the cost of an MOT. That's a total of £1647.00 thats £1178.63 less than the above mentioned figures.

Those figures quoted are particularly high you would get them cheaper than that.
But a service plan has gotta be cheaper.. Personally never been interested in service plans. Each to there own. 🙂👍

Getting the first the three services done by MG after that do not care who does it. Will come down to cost get the AA through bank account so no loss there.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but made more sense than creating new.

Had my first service this week £199 - got other quotes £224 & £235

Even £199 seems steep for what is no more than an oil and filter change.

I also received a service plan from the garage whilst I was in and that only covered year 2 & 3 total cost £845.76 - 1st payment £46.62 and then 19 payments of £42.06, I have previously had service plans and if it were a genuine saving over what I maybe expected to pay I would do it but this time I don't think it does. The service dept said it would secure me against price increases.

I am on a 4 year PCP and not sure what to do with the car probably exchange it at year 3 as the 4th year service is astronomical. Think I won't bother with the plan previously struggled getting money back when other cars have either been written off or sold.

Overall I like the car and get decent MPG but think the servicing costs have offset any real savings, anyone got experience of servicing costs for electric MG's?

The year four service is nearly £1200, which is an absolute rip off. As you say, the cost of servicing easy outweighs any real savings. I normally service cars myself and handing over this sort of money to a main dealer wouldn't sit well with me.

The finance APR has been reduced to 2.9% recently, but the best quote I can get on Carwow now for a Trophy model in Silver is £19K. I had Carwow quotes of £17k when the APR was 6.9%. So essentially they have lowered the APR, but increased the price by £2K (does anyone pay list?)

I think it is very unlikely that I am going to get one now, especially a new one. I might possibly get a second hand one when they are down to £8K or so and just service it myself, but at the moment the earliest cars with around 20k on the clock are around £13K

They just seem expensive to me when you can get a similar Clio Hybrid for the same money which doesn't have the ludicrous service costs and in my eyes is a better looking car.

My dealer tells me the fourth year service is now £1250. It's going up again later this year. For the average owner who wants to keep the car there are no fuel savings over a pure petrol model. Any saving are easily taken up by these big service costs. I chose a fully electric MG ZS. It's amazing. I save £100-£105 per month over my previous Citroen C3 petrol car. That is based on fuel & service costs. Higher mileage owners will save more. I'm currently paying between 1.5 & 2p per mile depending on journey type charging at home. But even public charging is cheaper than petrol if done right here in the UK.

If it is £1250 now if you bought one today you are going to be realistically paying £1500 in four years time. I personally would love to buy an EV, but unfortunately I live in London in a Victorian terrace and have no off street parking. There are a handfull of chargers in the road on lamp posts, but they are expensive and never free as any car can park there.

I currently have a 2011 petrol car that averages 40MPG, I service it myself and the insurance renewal is £180 a year. The thing that annoys me most is that it is a manual and I really want an automatic, but replacing it with a new MG3 Hybrid is literally going to cost me several hundreds of pounds a month.

I almost convinced myself with the smoke and mirrors PCP putting down £5k that it is "only £150 a month", but that is ignoring the £9k final balloon payment, higher insurance and £50+ a month servicing costs.

I currently pay annually £225 for road tax, £180 for insurance, £50 for an MOT and £50 for servicing, so just over £40 a month.

I loved the way the MG3 drove on the occasions I borrowed one, but I just can't accept the running costs and I suspect big depreciation.

All valid points I don't think the servicing costs are reasonable and I will be looking to change if I get a decent deal either next year or the year after.
