Hi all, I shared digital key. My key works fine for locking, unlocking and starting but the shared key only locks and unlocks. Yes, I’ve selected the option for remote stat but the shared key comes up with a calibration message but we don’t know how to calibrate it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

No I never had to calibrate mine on my car or my work car. I shared the key though and this is being asked on that shared key now.

Just by chance I was with the car today without the key I usually carry. But I have the MG app on my phone. I only wanted to put some stuff in the car, so opened the app and tapped "unlock" on the main screen. I got in the car and sat in the passenger seat.

Then I got interested and remembered this thread and thought I'd try the Digital Key.

So I tapped the octagon with the key in it, then My Car Key. Then Keyless Start.

The first time I did this, it directed me to place the phone in the centre of the steering wheel. Then the app declared success. I leaned on the driver's seat cushion and the car fired up. No need to press the brake pedal.

So I locked the car and unlocked it and repeated the digital key stuff, without the need to do the steering wheel malarkey. As soon as I "sat" on the driver's seat, everything fired up.

So, it works for me on our 23 plate Trophy LR with rear wiper.

Edit: I forgot to add (if it makes a difference) that my phone is a Nokia XR20, running Android 14.
From another thread but not directly about the shared key. You could try the above method. Note the poster has the 100 years theme home page, yours may be the white theme.

This didn’t come up. There was no diagram about a steering wheel just about putting it in the calibration position. I did see that previous message and put the phone near the steering wheel but nothing happened. Tried it in the armrest too next to the key detection and nothing there too.

I think you just get the words no diagram. I have not shared the key, I will try at the weekend, but I had to go through the calibration process with my phone

It may be a question of trial and error. Is your phone far enough away not to interfere with the process?
Is the car powered up? Has the shared phone got a Bluetooth connection to the car. (But this may not be relevant as the link is not via that displayed Bluetooth connection but could be a necessary precursor.)

Good point about my phone. Only one phone can be connected to the Bluetooth so didn’t consider that could cause a problem. The car was unlocked and has the no smart key message on the car dash with the shared key phone connected to the car.
