Not an MG
Hello , I d appreciate your input please - I have a first gen Nissan leaf 24kw - had it for a while but had enough of the range limits (80 miles) - thinking of moving to a MG ZS c 2019/ 2020 - would you recommend? How realistic is the c 160 range on these models , I normally charge the leaf at home off the the 3 pin plug in - I have solar panels which kick out about 3 kw on a sunny day so the trickle charge works well for me - im
Guessing the trickle charge would add about 7 miles range per hour to the MG ? Anyway you thoughts would be v helpful before I take the plunge - the online reviews suggest it’s reliable but I see quite a few elec faults on the forum !! Cheers Rich

It depends on your driving style and what type of journeys you do.
I do short, 3 miles each way, urban journeys almost every day and I get around 160 miles in Summer and 120-130 in Winter, depending how cold it is.

If you don't need the boot space of the MG, I would seriously consider the 38kwh Ioniq. Much more range per kWh and a more well sorted car in general.

If you would be happy with 160 miles and about £20k+, then the original ZS is an excellent car and good value. If you need more miles, then there are other options but they are all £30k+. I have had our ZS EV for three years and, apart from one door-handle, (under warranty) it has been 100% reliable. Of course there is also the Leaf with larger battery?

Just remember to tell him that the Leaf has ChaDeMo fast charger plug, which it seems none of the new fast chargers has.

I have looked at a 2017-2018 ish leaf multiple times, but i always drop that idea again, because of the ChaDeMo problem.

If it is possible to charge at home, "all the time" this is not a problem, then you just do Type-2, but any trip beyond the range, will be even more difficult, than in a CCS car.

Nissan REALLY screwed up, no changing to CCS until 2022, they could have sold A LOT more cars, if they had, had CCS.

Nissans Betamax in a VHS world.
Well it's not bad to have a "war of standards", the problem is, when the losing side does not want to admit defeat.

Even Tesla changed from their propritary connector in 2018 to CCS, but Nissan is only just now, changing to CCS on a selection of new vehicles.
