Simple Fix for rear seat belt alerts

If you’re tired of the constant beeping and want a quick way to disable the chime without affecting the seatbelt's physical operation, follow these steps. The seatbelt itself continues to work perfectly fine; this only stops the electronic sensor from triggering the alarm.


Steps to follow:


• Remove the seat: easy, just lift it up

• Identify the plugs: Locate the wiring connectors on both the left and right sides.


• Disconnect: Unplug the occupancy sensor connectors. This stops the car from "sensing" weight on the seat and eliminates the chime.


I have attached photos below to show the exact plugs you need to disconnect.

The only time I had it was when I had a heavy object on the back seat. But I just plugged the seat belt in. It lies flat across the seat back, or you can put it around the load to help secure it. Seems a lot simpler?

If you get the 'beeping' when you have passengers in the rear seats, ask them to fasten their seat belts, and if you're regularly carrying heavy items on the rear seats, get yourself one or two of these.

Mate got in the back plugged into the center rear seat when he was sitting on the outside (by mistake), constant bloody beeping/bonging that was extremely annoying until he sorted it out, which took some time as it was late at night and he couldn't see a thing in the back !!

There are curtains airbags in the rear, but I don’t know if they trigger independently from the fronts.

Isn’t it still just easier to fasten the seatbelts if you have parcels on the back seat?

Seat belts alert when you hold something heavier than 10kg on back seat. That connectors are connected to occupancy sensors.

If I have anything heavier than 10kg, it goes in the boot.

Just plug the belts in, a lot less hassle than doing all this and losing a safety alert.

it takes me 5 min, but I have experience with car repairs. I think its easy even for unexperienced people.

We have a dog on the back seat who is always moving around and is not shaped like a human so triggers the sensors unless they are plugged in.

Our solution is just to leave them plugged in and that works great.

Am I correct to presume the issue is because you want to place objects directly on the seats rather than folding the read seat back down?

The reason I ask is i brought back 200kg of bed and wardrobes from Ikea which filled the boot and back seats to the roof line and didn't get any alarms or similar when the seat was folded, even though there were massive amounts of weight being placed on the rear seats.
