Software Updates

Hi all.

I've searched the forums for an answer but it seems a bit all over the place with MG.

I'm on version R40 from what I can tell. I asked my local dealer about updating the software but they quoted me just over £130 to do it! Having come from Hyundai with free updates, this is annoying. Yet I read on this forum and on others that some get it free if they are experiencing faults.

Where do I go for an actual answer? I feel that the MG dealer just makes it up. They wanted to charge £40 to replace the key for battery as part of the second service!

What version of software should I have?

Should they be doing it for free?

Are there any other updates I need to check for?

It really is down to a good relationship with your dealer. If you are on a service plan then the battery replacement is part of it otherwise they charge for it. Just do it yourself and save a few quid.
Report any issue with the software and they may do it as a 'recall'.

Report software issues as faults ie bluetooth not working, screen keeps freezing etc and the main one, LKA is too aggressive.

As others have said report faults and the dealer gets paid by MG (or they should)
The thing is none of the versions are perfect so if yours is working ok then I would leave it alone!

All could be cured with OTA but it's never happening as the software is so unstable, people would probably come out to bricked cars in the morning
