Software wishlist

I think it's because it mistakes cars parked on the left* for cars ahead.

I've learned to point the car a little bit away from parked cars and also just to touch the accelerator so that it doesn't do an almighty emergency stop as you're describing.

*in the UK
Yeah this is infuriating to be fair. I do the same and stray a little wider also. But this is one of the top things that need fixing.

I think it's because it is vision-based rather than radar-based. The radar one in my Audi worked much better.

I wouldn't use ACC unless I was on a dual carriage way or motorway as it's not designed for single carriageway roads with parked vehicles.

My List

*Light and dark mode on both screens (Auto)
*Better telephony (during calls, sometimes i can hear the other person but my voice isn;t audible by recipient)
*3D view of vehicle
*Back button so that I don't always have to go to home screen.

Would be nice for the navigation tile just to be able to display a bit of map without having a location set in - as it is, it's just useless taking up real-estate on the home screen!

I mean, being able to customise the home screen would be nice too..

I wish the S5 onboard software (not the mobile phone app)

  • would allow me to use a shortcut key to turn the screen off, and cycle back to home when it's pressed again. Thus giving me a 'screen off/cycle to home on press button'
  • would correct the brightness of the screen without me having to cycle my lights OUT of auto and back on again at night (or set the slider every time)
  • remembered things that are not strictly MG pilot settings, like one pedal drive (OR moved them into the scope of Pilot functions)
  • had the option to remove % as a measure of battery remainder.
  • had the same 3d view some other MGs have where I could scroll around the car (instead of just having top down and 4 locked quadrants)
  • would allow me to set the colour of my car in top down view (and default to my car colour 😆 instead of white)

I'll think of more I'm sure of it 😉 maybe we could get this in front of someone at MG, the same platform is now in use across a range of models, I can see MG harmonising experience across the range in the coming years.

What's your biggest wish/s?

One click SatNav set/unset, fiddling between two buttons or touching the brakes to disengage is bloody dangerous.
If Tesla can do it i'm sure MG can.

One click Cruise Control set/unset, fiddling between two buttons or touching the brakes to disengage is bloody dangerous.
If Tesla can do it i'm sure MG can.

I had one button unset in the Audi, but in reality I tended to unset it with the brake.

I'm not sure if that's really bloody dangerous.

thought of something else !

Auto dk/light screen on built in Satnav screen dependent on headlights being on or off . at the moment it seems to be one or the other regardless .

It would be nice to allocate opening the boot to a steering wheel button. Understand that it would need to be inoperative whilst moving.. which I presume it is from the normal methods, albeit that's untested!

Also, I know this isn't software as in the screens, but it'll be software controlled all the same... Please please please let me fold my mirrors inwards at more than about 10mph!. I have small country lanes near me and while I agree safety first, there are UK roads where we need this! Imagine a single road lane/driveway where the bushes grow in by quite a lot. At least to 15mph... 🤪 (There is probably an EU reg stopping this 🤣).

Or if it's the second time folding in, leave them folded 🤷 a very worst case.

Right now we have the single worst case which of they will fold OUT on you by suprise if even 1mph over it's set threshold, nice thanks... You folded the mirrors out onto something for me...cheers MG! (Facepalm)
