I ordered my S5 yesterday. I keep a spare tyre in place of the compressor in my ZSEV and want to do the same. Although there is a circular impression on the underside of the boot floor cover it doesn't look like the compressor holder is designed to be removed, except perhaps with tools.

Has anyone tried this?

I do the same with my ZS EV. I took the tool tray out of the space and fitted a full size spare wheel in easily. I keep the pump, and repair kit plus a charger there too.
I don't know about the MG5 but the ZS EV gen 1 definitely has space for a full size spare

Not sure if I phrased it badly, apols if so.

Has anyone tried removing the tool storage so they can try fitting a space saver?

Although now I think about it, my S5 has bigger wheels than the ZSEV so I doubt my spare is compatible anyway.

I didn't get the impression the MGS5 was designed to house a space saver spare.
Oh yes it does, if you look at the back of the moveable false floor it has the impression of the skinny wheel, my one from the ZS fits perfectly under the false floor, admittedly I had to take Jack out of the polystyrene and place it next to the wheel, I also got a shock and found the removed wheel nuts along with the key for the security nuts that they replaced them with.

thats great news, do you have a photo? does it use the securing bolt to hold the spare in to the boot floor?

The tool holder section is held down with some clips over bolts. I imagine the bolts are fixed to the car frame so even if you remove the clips and tools tray, you are likely left with two bolts in the way.
