Strange design

I was just looking out of the bedroom at the typical Scottish summer weather and glanced down at my MG4. I'd never noticed before that the windscreen is asymmetric. The camera is offset towards the left of the car with the camera angled within the housing.
So what could be the design/engineering requirement for this? Do LHD cars use the same screen or are theirs over to the right? Surely having it on the centreline would be cheaper and easier?

I'm guessing that if it was in the middle it may restrict the driver's view.

It's definitely a mirror image of the LHD cars, look at the wipers too
