System powers up after shutdown

So the car went in today for the software updates and 'the fix' for the system restarting....

The dealer said they hadn't been able to replicate the power down issue (which happened 9 times out of 10 for me ) and hoped the software update (R40) had resolved it for me.

I was in a bit of a hurry to perform my own on site testing (silly me!!)

When starting up, the screen Initially appeared a very light greyish colour - (in fact no colors at all) just like an incorrectly plugged in VGA monitor (Showing my age here folks). I was a little confused but as i was in a hurry for an appointment i had to accept it. After a few mins driving this corrected itself and normal screen returned - happy days!
This happened again on my way home which was a bit concerning however, when i tried later on the normal colours appeared on start up.

I was also pleased that i was now able to use one of those cheap Bluetooth USB dongle thingys that allows a phone to connect to Android Auto without a lead and also make hands free calls whereas previously the car couldn't connect to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously (1. the phone 2. the dongle)

Anyway, I reached my destination and performed the menu shutdown procedure - still powered up and has done consistently since....

At one point i received 2 email alerts warning me of brake and airbag alarms had been triggered so was hoping they'd been fettling around under the driver's seat to sort the sensor out...

The dealer had given me a 75 plate MG4 as a courtesy car which performed flawlessly. I obviously performed the same shutdown procedure numerous times - and worked perfectly every single time!

So.....I'm now rejecting the car as it obviously has a fault (which might explain why i'm it's 3rd owner in 2 years ), which is a bloody shame as i've grown quite fond of it however, thanks to this Forum i've now learned of the differences between models and will 'upgrade' accordingly (Mine's the one without the rear windscreen wiper).

Let's see how things pan out tomorrow at the Dealers...

Good luck with the rejection I'd be very surprised if the give in right away

Why would you bother shutting it down apart from putting the wipers up for washing. Just get out, shut the door and lock it. That's all that's needed

Just to update:

The dealer sent their EV 'Specialist' to my house to evaluate the situation.

He watched me get out of the car - which fired up the system - and commented that i appeared to 'bounce' out of the car which acted as a double click thing on the seat sensor which reactivated the system. He performed the same excercise himself and the car didn't react (Multiple times). I re- evaluated my exit strategy which seemed to confirmed his observations were indeed correct.

He also confirmed that the shutdown facility on the menu was simply for powering down the car when whilst remaining in it.

He also demonstrated the 'keyless' functionality (i.e. keys in pocket & door handle button thing) something that the salesperson failed to do.

So in a nut shell - since the software update to R40 the car is a bloomin' pleasure to drive & i subsequently retracted my request for a refund.

That said, when i first approached the dealership to highlight the issue, i also pointed out the paintwork condition of the boot spoiler & excessive condensation in both rear light clusters - to which the Manager was all too keen to resolve. But now that i've retracted my refund request all has gone quiet - no responses to emails to get the car booked in etc....
