At least it was only a loose connection on the battery terminals and not the wheel bolts or track rods

Years ago I was in France travelling in a friend's Renault, who had just had it serviced at a main dealer in the UK.

There was a strange knocking noise coming from the rear offside. I was convinced it was a wheel bearing problem. It got progressively louder and worse over a few hours.

Eventually we decided we couldn't go any further without having it checked and called for assistance, fully prepared for a tow to a local garage.

Imagine our astonishment when the mechanic jacked up the rear and immediately discovered the wheel bolts were loose. The servicing garage had forgotten to tighten ANY of them and the knocking was the wheel banging back and forth as they steadily loosened.

5 minutes later with them tightened, we were on our way without any more noise!

Needless to say, words were exchanged with his dealer when he got back to the UK....

Before it get's to that though, I wouldn't rely too much on the willingness of the UK dealership network to do any warranty work, judging on what's been reported on the forum.

FWIW, Eric Stead, the Sheffield dealer is one of the best.

I am learning that if you buy a cheap EV, you get poor hardware build quality and very flaky software. The premium brand EVs are twice the price but they are still flawed and subject to even more horrendous depreciation from new. Battery quality has obviously gone down the pan too. When I sold my ten year old BMW 335d with 200k miles on the clock, it still had the original battery in good working order. I expect the batteries in my old Jaguar and my even older Alvis to last at least 10 years using trickle chargers. We clearly need to lower our expectations for all this new crap. Applies to everything, not just cars
