TPMS Anomaly

In my last car, the tyres had been changed before I got it and they hadnt put the tyres back on the same corners, as a result, the dashboard tyre indications didnt match up with the actual tyres. Couldnt understand how I kept putting air in the tyre it said was law and it made no difference to the display !

I can confirm (using a cheapish Ebay tyre pressure gauge which I have cross-calibrated against a couple of tyre pump gauges over the years) that the TPMS readings are in line with expectations within 0.1Bar or so on my car. I would recommend cross referencing the TPMS system occasionally for peace of mind.

It's actually both accurate and dependable.
Had a chance to test it very recently when I replaced an almost new tyre (7mm tread) because of a puncture. I deliberately didn't reset the DDS to see if it would recognise the very small difference in rolling radius between a new tyre and one with a couple of millimetres less tread.
Half a mile down the road and it gave me a warning so no complaints about that.
The beauty of the system is there's nothing in it likely to fail or wear out over time. Very much the opposite of TPMS.

Yes, they are not clear enough in explaining inaccuracy.

They make money from selling TPMS so I wouldn't expect them to sing the praises of a system just as effective that has little or no procurement/maintenance overhead for the owner
Their list of disadvantages doesn't stand up to close scrutiny IMHO!
