TPMS Fault

I have a mk1 ZS EV. It's spent the last three weeks parked up at a local body shop.

Upon collection the car has a TPMS Fault - there are no readings from the rear two tyres. All four were displaying PSI before.
I'm assuming that they have had the 12v battery disconnected for most of this time, but the garage have suggest the TMPS sensor internal batteries may have died.

Is this likely? Is there anything I can do to investigate/rectify?

I think it's unlikely that 2 batteries would fail at the same time, but obviously it's possible, have you checked the tyre pressures, and driven the car, the sensors may just need to 'wake up'.
