Hello, still waiting for mine so I,ll post something I cannot take part in.
0-60 ,7.9 secs and 100 mph top speed , would you, if MG were to change the reduction gearbox ratios prefer a better acceleration rate and lesser top speed or vice versa or have MG pitched it about right.
Some of its direct rivals have top speeds of 93 mph ,so I guess MG have gone a little better on that statistic to attract German buyers who can legally use it on some autobahns.

Interesting question, I'd be happy for it to top out around 90mph and a smidge quicker acceleration. Be interesting to know how much difference that would make.

I find the 30-70 to be Plenty quick enough (even in ECO Mode)

I think it's about right. Unless you have access to a track I don't think 99% of drivers will get anywhere near the 100mph top end and the 0 to 60 is fast enough to have fun with without running out of talent.

Acceleration, i don't drive on autobahns in our car these days.
I haven't driven ours at limit speed yet, but am interested to know from anyone who has what the 'power meter' numbers were? I'm assuming that the 'power meter' implementation in most ev's refers to current flow rather than the ice version of (torque x angular rate) (i.e. torque multiplied by rpm), hence the relatively high values seen on pull-away from rest.

The gearing needs to be set to optimise acceleration, speed ..... and efficiency. I think the MG4 has the balance about right.

I've only had the car a couple of weeks but I agree they got it about right. It's nippy off at the lights, and it can overtake very smoothly and quickly. When I opened it up on a dual carriageway section of the A8 (I was in a bit of a hurry) I was over 70 before I even realised, and it still felt as if there was plenty in the tank.

Would I notice if the top speed was only 90 and the acceleration was a bit quicker? I'm not sure I'd really notice. I'm not as ready to go up to 120 as I was ten on 20 years ago in any case.

The SE SR has better acceleration from a standing start (0-30) than the LR versions, as the gearing is slightly lower on the SR version because of the lower power motor. LR versions are slightly better 30-60.

That was one of my long string of reasons for choosing the SR, although my dealer said it wasn't enough difference to notice.

Definitely recall the trophy I test drove for two hours had more left to give above 80mph compared with my SE ( private runway )
Two ratios would be the best solution but no chance of that on a 'cheap' and simple EV.

I guess there was some interesting conversations between the design engineers and marketing departments at MG when deciding the performance figures , and what has ended up is properly a compromise.
Being a biker I find myself guilty of being seduced by the Japanese marketing machines with each new model being technically better ,lighter faster than the last model and competitors and parting with my cash only to ride the same roads at the same speeds, madness.
Its properly the same with new cars where a manufacturer has to be slightly better or level with direct competitors in all performance figures , which of course drive sales figures along with the selling price.
I cannot remember the last time I exceeded 90 mph ( in a car ) but I can recall being stuck behind slower traffic with not having enough oomph to get past so you can guess what I would go for.
I could wait for the twin motor version, but thats cheating.

Remember that if you change the gearing for better acceleration at the hit to top end, you will be quite a bit less efficient on long fast road journeys (e.g. motorways and A roads) as you will be using a higher power level for the speed than it is now.

There are a range of driving modes from Eco to Sport.
