Train TPMS on wheel location

I bought this tool for the Mrs Vauxhall to train the car to know which wheel is on which corner, is there an equivalent process for the MG ZS?

If the wheels have been moved around due to getting the tyres replaced do we need to train the car or does it know automatically the tyre position?

If you own the face lift ( Gen2 ) model of the ZS EV then if you carry out a wheel and tyre rotation, the car has the ability to self learn the new location via the TPMS system.
However, on the original Gen1 ZS EV each wheel / tyre requires its location programmed.
So, if you carry out a wheel / tyre rotation, you have to reprogram the new location.

What about if you have winter and summer tyres.

Will it autolearn a new set of wintertyres or do the new TPMS sensors on the wintertyres have to be learned....Or do you need to "clone" the sensors in the summertyres ?

I don't think they can "see" the difference between winter and summer tyres, just the internal pressure.

What i mean is.

If, right now, i have summer tyres on the car, they work, the TPMS works.

If i decide to buy winter tyres later this year and have them fitted with compatible TPMS sensors, what will be needed to get it working.

1. Will it just work so when i put on the winter tyres, it will automatically learn those and which one is where.

2. Will i have to have the winter tyre TPMS coded to the car and then it will be able to remember all 8 sensors and then it will autolearn when i change from summer to winter.

3. Will i have to have the TPMS sensors of the summer tyres cloned into the winter tyres....And will tyre rotation then work automatically if i rotate tyres, it will learn which tyre is where.

Or.

4. Will i have to have MG or a garage, recode the car to the TPMS sensors, every time i change from winter to summer or summer to winter ?

Hello, been a lurker for a while and decided it was finally time to create an account...

When I switched back to (not new to the car) my summer wheels at my local MG garage in April they charged me something to "reprogram" the TPMS

The TPMS sensors are part and parcel of the tyre inflation valve.
If you just switch from summer to winter tyres on the same rims, and set to the same / similar pressures, then I can not see why they would not relearn correctly.
If you fit new TPMS sensors into other rims without switching them over, you will need to get the new sensors coded to the car I think.

In my case it's separate sets of rims, so I guess the car can only hold one set in memory? Will try to remember to ask about it next time.

I was advised against switching tyres on one set of rims repeatedly, as apparently it can damage TPMS sensors or tyres in the long run.

If you just switch from summer to winter tyres on the same rims, and set to the same / similar pressures, then I can not see why they would not relearn correctly.

Yeah, just a regular car owner, so do not own a tyre changing machine.

I usually have one set of rims for summer tyres and one for winter.

I have actually found listing for a TMPS cloning device with 4 TMPS sensors that should be compatible.

Cost about £200 and can clone the original ones, coded to the car.

The only remaining question would be if it would be cheaper to just get the tyre fitter to fit 4 generic, TPMS and clone the original ones. I mean, if he could do it cheaper than £200, it would be easier to just do this....Until the TPMS sensor run out of battery in 5 years time, but i bet i would be hard pressed to figure out where i had put the clone device at that time anyway
