Hi everyone,

I’ve been driving my MG4 for a while now, and while I love the car's performance, I’m finding the front seats to be incredibly uncomfortable, especially on longer trips. The lack of lumbar support and the overall cushion stiffness are becoming a real deal-breaker for me.

Has anyone here felt the same and actually managed to do something about it?

I’m seriously considering a seat swap. Has anyone successfully installed seats from another car (maybe from a BMW, VW, or even a different MG model)? I’m curious about:

Fitment: Do the rails align or is a custom bracket needed?

Airbags/Electronics: How did you handle the airbag sensors and seat heating connectors?

Software: Did the car throw any error codes after the swap?

If you’ve done a swap or found a high-quality aftermarket solution that doesn't involve just a cushion, please let me know!

Thanks in advance!

I don’t think they mention swapping seats specifically, but you may find some useful nuggets of info in these threads;

I find the seats are quite comfortable, but the wife complains (like that's something new) and Temu have different hand pump lumbar support cushions that might help ......
The poverty pack MG4 51 doesn't get far enough on a charge to get uncomfortable for me, so the walk to the shop for coffee and a loo break and look around is usually enough to loosen up any parts that might have been getting ready to complain .... well, beside the headrest, if it could be set back a bit, that would be great, that pushing the head forward kills my neck since the MVA injury .......

Which specific model MG4 do you have? I know a former forum member (Jester27) rejected 2 SEs because the driver's seat in both had a "lump" that was perfectly positioned to cause him pain.

Thankfully I've never experienced any such issue in mine in the 3+ years I've owned it.

Seats in my Trophy are spongy, certainly not hard, i'd say quite soft for a modern car. They don't seem uncomfortable to me, but as seats are a personal thing . Although if you're looking at BMW etc, then they also tend to have hard seats.

Volvo S60 leather seats are my fav so far (not the material ones, they are no way near as good).

On the other hand, I find them extremely comfortable as does my wife.
In my previous Ford Fiesta Vignalle which had leather seats, I would only have to drive a relative short distance and my lower back used to start to ache. Even with much longer distances in the MG4 se sr, I have never had a back ache at all.

They are leather or fabric?

The Prius iTech have leather seats with lumbar support. The previous owner had removed the seat covering and added heater pads with a switch on the outer side plate with low/off/hi selectable ..... so I'm assuming the other MG stuff could be added as well .....
