I'm not saying these things don't happen but, in over 40 years of driving and an additional few years on motorcycles before that, I have never experienced anything like it. I can't imagine any circumstances in which a vehicle would suddenly apply power itself from being stationary. Everything is designed specifically to prevent such an occurrence, it'd need failures on multiple levels and that's incredibly unlikely. Now, drivers stamping on the wrong pedal... That's an entirely different thing.
