Have not picked up my new ZS EV Trophy let. But just wonder I probably would only be doing about 70 miles a day using about 25% .Just wonder what the charging time when plugging at home

The Granny is 2.3 kW, so around 2kW into the car battery (after losses). At an average car efficiency of 3.5 miles per kWh this is around 7 miles added per hour. So your 70 mile daily trip will take 10 hours to replenish. As N2sty said, a 7kW rapid charger will add around 25 miles per hour so just under 3 hrs for your 70 miles

I look at it like this
granny = 10 miles a hour
Home = 25 miles a hour
Thanks for the info I did think of buy a home charging pod but I don’t think it worth me investing in as I think I could just use the Granny . I have got myself a type 2 charging cable for when I am travelling more a field

If you do manage to get a cheap 4 hour overnight 5p/kwh (or 7.5p) tariff like Octopus go then thats when you need a 7.5kwh EVSE as that will get 70 miles back in the car. I do 66 miles a day and in the wint3r that takes nearly a four hour charge and just over 3 hours in the summer.

A type 2 cable is a great idea for your out and about.

I can buy a 7KWH wall charger from Ali Express for about $nz300. The devil is in the cost of getting sparkies to install it. The 7KWH draws 32 amps so it needs a grunty cable to connect it into the house distribution board. A friend had a cable run from their house to their garage on a farm, about 20 metres, and that cost $nz3,000. Ouch. We have an HS PHEV but I have a ZS 51kwh on order. I'm thinking of trying it on the granny charger, just make a point of plugging it in every time it is in the garage (I work from home so there's plenty of garage time) and see how that works, with just top ups from a public charger if needed. For the cost of the sparky plus the cost of the charger I can do a fair few topups, and using the granny charger will, I suspect, be kinder on the battery long term.

I had a 7kWh charger fitted with my first EV as it was free with the car and grant to install it. I very rarely use it. I mainly use the granny charger over night and at weekends on cheap rate grid or solar. The control box on the granny charger handles any anomolies with the supply, but I've got mine on a RCD socket as extra protection. :)
