"vehicle not responding" in app

Both my MG's went 'dark' one day last week (think it was prob Friday) and absolutley nothing I tried would bring them up in the App. I did a phone re-boot later in the day and everything reverted to normal but think I must have just coincided that with when whatever server issue had occurred was sorted.
Probably the latter was the case 🤔

I’m having a problem with my FL MG5 and hoping someone here might have some advice. The car keeps having trouble connecting to the app, I keep getting a vehicle not responding message whenever I try to use it and only start working again only after I unlock and lock the car. I drive the car every day, so it’s not sitting unused for long periods.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a fix for it?

Hi,
Since Sunday 11 Jan 26, my mg app will not work .
I charged my mg zs ev 22 plate, via ohme Pro charger, it charged fine, but mg app mileage did not go up.
Today, I tried to put auto windscreen on b4 I got in car, but mg app not working, it has been working give without any problems until now.
This is a motability car should have been returned in jov 25, but extended tge lease as couldn't find anything suitable yet.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

This is the replay today from uk customer service from the 22nd December asking them about the issue I ad with the app/car not responding waste of time contacting them it’s booked in on 28th this month for the issue I’ve only just noticed that the app is not showing out side temperature but it does in the car.

If the issue is solely related the ismart app, I would advise you to contact the ismart team at [email protected].
However, if there are further issues with the vehicle I would advise to contact your nearest dealership for further investigation.

Yep, mines been like that since the day I bought it (13 mths). I wouldn’t hold your breath for it to be resolved anytime soon, if ever…

This is the response today from the I-smart team after getting in touch with them and giving them loads of info about the car type app type phone type etc which they requested still have the same troubles no matter were it’s parked what a waste of time it’s all been car is in dealers on Wednesday anyway so see what they say.

Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 and the MG4 forum. I’m usually active there as an MG4 driver and only discovered your thread here by chance. The issue with iSmart and “Vehicle not responding” also occurs on a fully updated vehicle, even while it’s charging at a public charging station (regardless of AC or DC). I noticed this error message today at around 08:00 GMT. After updating the app again at about 09:30 GMT, the vehicle was reachable again. Sometimes I think the servers are just acting up, and at that point local network coverage no longer matters.
 
I'll upset the apple cart, just a little. I've not encountered the issue for quite a few months now. Today late afternoon put the car on charge & immediately the app provides status etc. TBH I only use the app when charging. I turned off charging (early evening) via the app & restarted the charge a just now; again the app OK. Meanwhile, just going back to when I did encounter the issue last year, it was transient. For example I'd experience the issue then try again an hour later (whether home or supermarket charger) the app would connect just fine. I'm due a service in several weeks, but if your general theory (as a result of service update) holds & I encounter the same, I'll report back.
 
Our 2022 FL MG5 Trophy has done this from day 1. It randomly is not available and it is the car shutting down, even when on charge. The work around for us (MG UK are useless at sorting things like this out) is to use the lock button on the key remotely i.e. in the house, this gives the car a nudge, we can then pre heat / pre cool as required. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, it simply nods off whenever it feels like it. As we don't intend to keep the car I no longer pursue the matter with the dealers, save my breath!
 
My car was in last week for this the dealers told me they couldn't find anything wrong with car etc but told my they did some reflashing/reinstalling etc with the software i don't understand all this software stuff my car was all OK until about the time it went in for first service september 2025 noticed it more when needing to pre warm car in the colder weather.
 
Maybe a TBox replacement could help. I know from my MG4 that TBox updates are done separately and a lot of MG car dealers here in Germany don't know how it's done. In my case TBox updates plus SIPS updates were the solution.
