Good evening,
I have most probably very stupid question but ...
Where is the sensor for "virtual pedal" for the boot opening? I have MG HS Phev 2025 from today and can't open by foot. The option is activated in the system. Is it possible they remove the sensor during the installation of my towing hook?

Should be somewhere in the middle. I didnt get it to work the 1st few times i got the car. Wiggling left and right dont work. I should be like a kicking motion. it took me a bit of practice :D

I tried quite long time with no success. But I kick a bit on the right or left of the middle as I have towing hook that is not removable, do you think it may be the case that this mess with the sensor? Soon it will be changed to removable and I will be able to try. Only hope that the sensor ot wathever is there is not removed during the installation of the hook ...

It was very hit and miss when I tested it when I picked up my car, so I have just tended to use the key instead. However I did a few tests today and I found it needs to be a rapid kick (in and out quickly). I was kicking directly central along the width, and I probably kicked deep enough so my entire foot was underneath the car. I probably had. 50-50 success rate. If it works, then there is a brief delay before it starts rising, and a small extra delay before the beep, so it is not quickly obvious that it was successful.
So I'm sticking to my key unless it's an absolute emergency!

I will Kick a bit more tomorrow. I can't kick exact in the middle as there is the towing hook. I am waiting to replace it with removable one so then I will be able to test with nothing. I see in a research in internet that is possible the hook do disterb the sensor so that's why it is not working for me

Needs a kick right in the center. You do need to hit the bumper, just a wave won't do it. MG Gloucester had absolutely no idea that you could do this!

The sensor is not removed when the tow bar is fitted according to my tow bar fitter...they dont touch it...I am having similar probs though...I had a look underneath and found the sensor in the rear bumber just to the right of the tow bar/center when stood at the back...it has worked once or twice but more often than not it hasnt...not sure if im doing something wrong

I have tried unsuccessfully to get the kick thing going but I look pretty stupid standing in the parking lot and swinging my leg. Finally, I just gave up and pressed the key to raise the boot. Well, so much for 'human technology'

@blohot I used to be exactly the same as you - feeling embarrassed by rarely getting it to work.

However, then I found a few tricks:
1. The main trick is that it is triggered not by your 'forward' part of the kick, but by the 'backward' pull-back. So my method is to slowly push my foot underneath the centre of the back of the car, and leave my foot dangling for 1 second. Then quickly (very important) pull/yank back my foot.
2. I have a feeling (I have not 100% tested) that it only works when the car is locked.

By following the above rules, I reckon my success rate (at getting it to work) has increased from 10% to 90% :)

It appears to me that this is an unnecessary feature. The only time that could be of use is if you are carrying more than one shopping bag. If you’re only carrying one, you can push the button under the MG badge, or use your key. If you have a shopping trolley do the same. If you are in the car push the button to open the boot prior to getting out and then close it pushing the button at the top of the tailgate.
I would have preferred to have had a heated steering wheel, as on my previous ZS, and in addition no side steps.

Does anyones boot actually CLOSE with a kick as it is said in the attached image of instruction manual? Mine doesn't, just beeps. I asked my dealer about this, and got answer that it works only for opening.

No, it does not close. It simply beeps (3 times I think, from my memory) for me too.

I have a feeling that it does not open if the doors are unlocked, so maybe it does not close either when it is unlocked either. So perhaps worth you trying to close the boot (with your feet) when the doors are locked (mirrors folded)?

I did it today had to get my foot quite a bit under the center of the rear bumper then pull it back worked about 3 times out of 5
