What car did your MG3 replace ? ??

I sold my 2018 Land Rover Discovery 5 SE Edition, for the MG3 Hybrid +

What do I miss

The Ride Height
The easy Access
The Space
The boot
The quietness.

What do I not miss

The Fuel consumption
The worry that the engine will go bang at any moment (it had that one that did, frequently)
The Insurance renewal quotes
The high servicing costs

What have I gained !

A great small car
A worry about the NCAP thing
Comfortable seats, easy to operate buttons and screen
huge MPG
Low Insurance (but wait till next year and I bet it will be double)

----------------------------------------------

I am currently doing a Euro tour in it, been away for a number of days and got a couple left, the thing that the car has done on this trip which it has NEVER done at home is the constant high revving, at certain speeds it just seems to rev like it is wanting to leave the car, and I have to slow down to stop it - I have found a sweet spot 103KPH, yes I know not that fast, but at that speed the fuel consumption gives me over 800 km on a fill up, which really surprised me, the car had only done 600 miles when we left home, so not anywhere near broken in, as they say, so I expect that to get better.

It ran for three hours non stop at 103 today, just slowing for peage about eight times, no fill up today, and just checked the car and it says there is still 361 miles worth of fuel left (Via the app)

I am concerned about this high revving as the numbers at the bottom which show kW usage or whatever it is, shoots way up into the high 40's and the noise is dreadful, it has never done it in the UK, so whether the car just hates France and Germany I do not know, LOL, we will see what it does when we get back to the UK tomorrow..... long drive from Germany to the tunnel then all the way to Cambridge for a stop off before Addenbrookes the day after... boo hiss, LOL.

Got rid of a 2010 Kia Proceed Strike - wasn't high mileage but at the last MOT, The mechanic told me that the running gear was looking pretty poor ie suspension, steering etc , very rusty and getting noisy. Couldn't trust it outside local mileage
The MG is like a starship compared with a 16 year old Kia!

The French have never been very good at technology and here in France, we feel that they are a long way behind South-East Asia.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I've been re-reading this and I think I must have missed this comment first time around.

I think I have to disagree.
The DS was a fantastic example. Directional headlights, hydropneumatic suspension, steering and brakes.
And PSA went on to develop the HDi direct injection diesel engine.

The hydropneumatic stuff trickled down to my BX 19RD and the ride was sublime. As for the brakes on my BX, the nearest comparison I can make is with air brakes on a truck.

I had clio esprit alpine. 4th Renault all excellent. If I'd been ready for full E would have gone for the R5. On balance having had the mg3 almost a year I'd take the clio over the mg

I went through seven Citroens - 1.3 GSA Pallas, 1.6 BX, 2.0 BX, 2.0 Xantia, the fantastic blown 2.0 Xantia Activa, C5, last came an auto deisel C4 Coupe. Then in 2014 came an MG3, (the first non SUV thing from MG - I am an MG nut with two proper British MGs too) - 2018 saw a stop/start MG3, an awful thing just as gutless, still a rough ride and it ate batteries too. May '24 arrived, I couldn't wait to have a go of a demo MG3Hybrid. This was just the job with its ride and the way it went. The garage had that day taken delivery of a red MG3Hybrid+, so ordered it there and then and so far no disappointments.

The best car ever was that Activa - got written off in its prime between two vans. Wish I still had it...
