What is the purpose of the front camera?

I receive the “Front camera blocked” alert when the windscreen view is obstructed but other than that, what is the front camera used for?

The rear camera is used when reversing which is helpful but i’m at a loss as to what the front camera does?

Safety features alike the Pedestrian alert etc rely on it. when you get the "front camera blocked " warning the other warnings for the various safety systems that it relies on come up shortly after.
