Wheel arch cut outs

Hi. Do the cut outs in the front wheel arches under the bonnet serve any purpose or can I safely cover them in ?

A few of us have covered them or looked into something to cover them up with. I can’t think that covering them up would cause any problems.

And thanks for the reminder, I need to clean under my bonnet again

I've also wondered if they serve a purpose. For example, some sort of aerodynamic function to aid air flow from the front air intakes into the front wheel arch?

Hi, I asked the dealer here in Thailand about the openings near the front shock towers and they assured me they were not meaningful. I then confirmed with MG Thailand and was told I could cover the openings without issues. So,,,,,I cut some pieces from 3 mil rubber sheet and used silicone in about 6 small beads to secure them. If it becomes necessary its easily removed. But,,,,its odd that MG and the dealer seem unconcerned. Opposite these open ports on the underside of the hood (bonnet) looks to be a rubber diaphragm of sorts related to the holes? It looks like these are purposely arranged over the open ports. The openings themselves have a foam rubber type stripping around them to keep mud out when the bonnet is closed, however it clearly doesn't work. Apparently I have it on good authority that I'm free to cover the holes without repercussion. My solution works well keeping the surrounding area free of mud and debris. I also haven't noticed any adverse effects.

Looks great, however a lot of dirt will accumulate underneath.
I keep mine open and clean.

A removable solution would be perfect, same like the other covers.
I guess MG will come up with something on a face lift soon or later

This is my solution, fixed in 15 min. Bought a plastic plate at the hardware store.

If you had aligned the straight line with the subtle curve, it would have been absolute perfection!

Was the plastic panel the same colour as the car, or did you repaint it yourself?

Someone into 3D printing needs to get on this and make a clip in version to sell.
