Would you go to a dedicated EV garage like the one I bought the car from or can any garage do an EV MOT?

Thanks

That's why I asked
You asked if it needed to be a dedicated EV garage, I just said it all costs the same so get it done close to you if you are happy with your MG dealership.

Being an MG dealerahip doesn't mean it's a dedicated EV garage.

I'll just take it to the garage I used for my ICE cars since 1975.
I thought a dedicated EV MOT might do different things, I haven't seen them for three years.

An MOT test on any vehicle is basically checking that the car is safe, so they're checking things like brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, seat belts, lights, windscreen washers, etc, which are the same on all cars, ICE or EV.

I go to a local MOT only garage I've used for years. Not the cheapest but always honest and definitely better then the main dealer I bought from.

They had no problems doing my MG4, (although the older mechanic found it odd the "engine couldn't be switched off when he got out of the car!).

He could hear the fans running and saw the lights etc. on, but obviously no "On/Off switch" so... he panicked a little at getting out of the car "with the engine running".
I had to explain the workings to him and how it switched off when the door was locked.

He liked the car but in his words, "it's too late for this dog to learn new tricks and drive one of them electric cars", so... being older than him I had to smile!

I guess they need a little bit of training so they don't attempt an emission test
Dont laugh!
From our last service with a main dealer... So glad they checked the exhaust and cat were OK, plus they magically found the spare we don't have and checked the oil level in the engine we don't have was OK as well.

No, it would already be switched on when he was in the car, but there was no easy way to switch it off when he got out.
By default the "engine "... that's "engine," motor!! ... would be off when exiting, the electrics would still be on which might be confusing to the uninitiated , but ....... :D
Shouldn't be confusing, its like an ICE car with the ignition on but engine not running, although you do have the option to have it running. Jesus , it is confusing ? I'm going back to bed with a cup with a cup of Darjeeling and some biccies. Brmm Brmm.o_O
