Which car survey- Mg4 voted unreliable

No one has mentioned that in Australia BYD had a massive recall for body corrosion after it was discovered rust around spot welds after cars had collisions.

Sept 2023 essence 77kw here and now 37,000km and nearing it's first 40,000kms service. Fixed price $350 AUD incl a loan car, seems pretty reasonable given the list of items they indicate are done on that service. Original tyres but nearing change time... tow bar fitted from new and used extensively for mountain bike. Used VTL a few times. Generally charge to 80% but 100% when needed. Has not missed a beat and no issues to date. Sure I need to turn road sign recognition off and enable OPD each time as I can't save these settings but don't think this is any different from other cars due to compliance reasons... loving the car so far and its wearing very well both on the outside and inside, Camden Grey and looks as new as the day I bought it.

Just to add I addressed the radio problem by tuning the radio to FM stations and it’s great don’t bother with DAB everything working grate.

I've had my MG4 for 10 months and have just clocked up 16.5K - it has been very reliable.
Yes there a few little niggles - LKA, heater goes cold occasionally, loses mobile connection, but I have never owned any car that doesn't have a niggle it two!
On the whole, it's a good little car that does what it says on the tin!
24k miles in 18 months, been absolutely brilliant. LKA never been an issue at all. Only problem has been the rear undertray warped from delivery and the dealers being certain it’s my fault despite the maintenance release from MG for the issue.

Mine has also been fault free and exceeded my expectations. Like most who have good cars, I never participate in any of these surveys as they tend to be infested with those that have bought a different brand who want to denegrade the competition, those who fail to understand the features of a car or those with other negative agendas. I always book an extended test drive before buying any 2 or 4 wheel vehicle and make a decision purely on that experience...

I think this survey mostly highlights the issues with the dealership network in the UK. I don’t think any faults are inherently worse than other car brands, but it is the aftercare that fails customers. Argumentative dealerships, long repair times, things like that. And this forum is UK based so it makes sense this is being brought up of course, but it is noteworthy that most international MG owners seem less bothered by faults, because the customer care is better, and therefore have a more positive overall experience.

It is strange that SAIC/MG seem to be able to offer a better service in certain countries, considering UK dealers seem to try and hide behind “SAIC/MG won’t let us help you”.

Well, of course most MG owners in the UK are more than likely happy with their dealership experience as tens of thousands of these vehicles have been sold there and as usual those with positive experiences very rarely post on forums or take part in surveys, only those who feel they have something to complain about. Otherwise, forums such as this would be overrun with hundreds or even thousands of negative commentators. You then have to filter put the significant amount of user errors that were originally reported as manufacturer faults, many, many of these, quite a few don't even read the owners manual or even bother to find it before they comment. Happens all over the internet unfortunately and those intent on knowingly spreading misinformation make the validity of such platforms even more questionable.

Interesting that the MG5 made it into top ten of most reliable EVs in the same survey, while the MG4 was bottom. That said, they only had 18 cars in the survey in total. There's a lot more than 18 types of EV out there.
