Unfortunately, adding to my problems with the 'Keep Lane Assist (LKA see separate thread) I suffered a windscreen stone chip and crack last Friday ! Never rains but it pours.
Autoglass (via my Insurers) arranged to come out next Tuesday the 25 April but have now pulled back saying that a replacement screen cannot be supplied at the moment by MG.
No idea of when the screen will be available.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how long did it take between the initial chip/crack and a new screen being fitted ?
I suspect that the supply of parts might be another problematic issue with MG.

Yes, some parts take time to be shipped over from China, and it seems some are very difficult to get hold of. It is surprising that windscreens would be like this because they are quite a common replacement part. Hopefully they can sort this out for you soon.

yes, I had a cracked windscreen last May and had to wait until July for a replacement.

Happy to update that the cracked windscreen has now been replaced by AutoWindscreens.
There was a 3 week wait for the screen to arrive and when it was fitted they had to bring in one of their 9 UK specialist fitters in order to do the recalibration (due to the cameras being situated behind the top middle of the windscreen).

But don't all new cars have cameras in the screen that need recalibrating. Those 9 specialists are going to be busy.

My front wondscreen was replaced last year, but fitter said it was not necessary to have it recalibrated, it all seems to be working fine for the last 12 months.

As it happened, the recalibration involved uploading software and only 75% of the software update would load and it would then stop.
Coincidentally, the car was booked in for other software issues so this reinforced the fact that all was not as it should have been.
So the car went in for the software upgrade and since then the serious LKA issue appears to have been resolved !

Big chip in windscreen recently, Autoglass been to fill it, they / me not happy with result so it's a replacement, quelle surprise, not a stock item. The tech also advised I'd have to go to them as it would need calibrating. That'll be Exeter Autoglass, I'll update on completion.

Hopefully although the fill isn't up to standard it'll stop the screen cracking until the replacement arrives.

Did you go there through your insurance. Just having my corsa done through insurance at Auto Windscreens before I swap over to the MG4 on Friday

All booked via Admiral insurance but I'm sure you can go straight to them.

Looks like a Beirut Taxi at the moment - but it'll get sorted. Key interest point is that Autoglass UK have no stock, no big surprise, are there any in the MG UK inventory, you'd hope so but I'll not be surprised if it has to come from the PRC.

I am currently with the AA and because it was a replacement instead of a repair I had to pay a £50 excess.
I am swapping over to Saga on Friday AA was a lot dearer even allowing for the moving over of any refund of current policy. The Lady said that AA have a limited amount of companies that insure EV’s but as time goes on they are likely to increase. So I have gone through money supermarket which was the cheapest.

Anyway good luck and I hope you get sorted soon

I spoke too soon !
A few days after the dealer installed updated software (mainly to address the LKA issue) with apparent success, Autoglass insisted on coming out to recalibrate.
They did this and it reverted to the same condition that it was in the last time they came !
So it has to go back to the dealer for yet another recalibration !
I seem to be in a perpetual loop !

Sounds like Autoglass need to update their software which they will probably have to pay for.

Note to self, recalibration sounds grand but does it mean - bend the camera mount to poke out of the correct screen aperture OR mess with software. I detect caution is required here when the time comes and many questions to be asked before they negatively improve an otherwise stable MG4. Fingers crossed.

BTW Admiral / Autoglass excesses are £25 for a repair and £125 for replacement.

New screen took 14 days to come into stock and be fitted, not bad I suppose considering the relative small number / newness of the MG4.

Less impressed that the car has to then go to the 'Main Dealer', a phrase that always fills me with dread!, for the camera to be re-calibrated.

According to the Autoglass tech, every manufacturer does this differently and they eventually get arround to supplying the software to AG, if it's needed, but MG haven't as yet. Most use software to re-calibrate, some manufacturers just have you drive the car arround. MG is the laptop and software method - note this does not mean they upload new SW to the car.

Hendy MG Exeter appointment 8 weeks time, so Autoglass did much better.

We are in a similar position, our MG4 Trophy (Nov 22 Delivery) had Windscreen damaged in January.
Autoglass took till May to get the replacement Screen, but due to holiday we could not arrange fitting till 19th June, this went well upto camera calibration which as you say needs to be done at
MG Main Dealer. This was arranged for 28th June Autoglass to pick up bill for calibration.

MG Main Dealer contacted me yesterday to advise that they were unable to complete the calibration
and suspect an issue with the camera itself. They are now awaiting MG Technical for advice / permission to replace camera assembly.

Anyone know what the calibration involves and exactly what it does ???
(Lane Keep) I don't use and have it turned off.
(Road Sign Recognition) Unneccessary Gimick
Anything else ????

Question who is responsible Autoglass or Warranty ??

I did asked the technician to educate me and he was very happy to do so. I assumed calibration meant physical alignment of the camera in its housing behind the new screen but he said that there is no physical alignment to do as the camera fits very precisely on its locating lugs. He said that the calibration just amended preset parameters of the camera system and took more account of the optical qualities of the new screen amongst other things. I imagine the camera plays a combined part in all the automated systems as the LIDAR device is too low to spot things like the white lines on the road?

I have to say that since the screens replacement and without calibration all the automation is just as good/bad as it was before screen replacement but I have experienced my first emergency braking event in 12,000 miles - coincidence?

Autoglass have been very switched on and even call me following up an email to see if I'd booked the main dealer appointment so that they could ensure they paid for the MG visit and tie it up in one insurance claim.

Not sure what you mean by responsibility, if its who pays then Autoglass, who claim from my insurer, so ultimately me. It's not a warranty event for sure.

National windscreens replace my front window last year and told me that re-calibartion was unecessary. I haven't noticed any problems in the past year and all seems to be working quite normally.
