How is everyone getting on with the wireless charging pad. Unsure if it's my phone oneplus12, or it's just not good or working properly.
The issue is the phone keeps switching on and off to say its charging, but actually just overheats and actually runs down the battery level.
I never used it much in my MG4, as the phone could slide off. The charger seemed to work OK though.
Have tried with and without the phone case, to make little difference.

I don't mind using a cable, but the tray seems to be a very convenient position.

I put the phone on the conveniently positioned tray and plug it in!

My main problem with the inductive charging was that my iPhone 12 had to be in precisely the right place and if it moved a millimetre charging was lost.

Great idea, but sadly doesn't deliver.

It does not charge through the third party cover for my S23 but once removed it seems to work just fine.

Might be down to the placing of the charge coil in the phone versus the one in the console?

In my experience, it depends on the phone. My work Samsung . . I had to take the cover off to get it to charge, but had the same experience as you describe. Charging, then not charging. Whereas my wife's Google Pixel . . . charges perfectly.

The new Qi2 standard has magnets like newer iPhones to align everything and keep it in position. Even then though I find my phone heats up quite a bit.

I ended up getting a combined charger and cooler. It's got a little fan on the back and a peltier element so that the surface gets fairly cool. I wish they made a mat version but it does the job of keeping the phone charged and cool on long journeys.

Unfortunately wireless charging does heat up phones a lot, even with the magnets for alignment. My solution was to get a combined wireless charger and cooler.

It works okay, keeps the phone under 30C on the high setting with Android Auto running. The only annoying thing is that it turns on as soon as power comes on to the USB socket, so I got a cable with a switch in it.

I had a case with magnets in it, but it makes the phone heat up even more if used on a non-magnetic charger, so I ended up putting some guides on the non-magnetic case in permanent marker, and using the clips on the cooler/charger.

I have one of those for cooling my iPad in the aircraft, where it gets very hot under the direct heat of the sun.

The problem I have is that the magnet is not strong enough and the fan (which is absolutely brilliant, by the way) keeps falling off.

If anyone knows, or can think of, a way of keeping it attached when it's needed, I'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking of some kind of hook and elastic arrangement, but so far I have failed to find anything suitable.

Oh, the magnet on mine seems more than adequate. In fact when I was testing it on my desk I used the cooler as a stand for the phone. An iPad is much bigger though - were you hanging the whole weight of it off the magnets?

No, not at all. The iPad sits in my lap, with the fan in the gap between my legs.

The magnet is nearly enough but not quite.

If anyone is feeling creative, this is what it looks like. Any ideas welcome!

Though, anything that involves drilling through the screen, or superglue, is going to get short shrift!

only my second day with the car but as my iPhone is a Max size it fits the perfectly on charging pad

The one I have claims "strong magnetic absorption" and I can confirm that it's pretty solid feeling. I don't have an iPad to test with but maybe you just need one with stronger magnets.

You could also try adding magnets to the cooler itself. I don't know if you could disassemble it to get them in there. I wanted to take mine apart to disable the LEDs.

Oh yeah, that's the only problem with it. Annoying RGB LEDs that you can't turn off.

I had an older, smaller one with annoying lights, which I lost and replaced with this bigger and more effective one, which doesn't.

Of course, I have found the small one again, but that is in the nature of the beast.

So you have a link to the one without the lights? I have seen a few on AliExpress that seem to not have them, but you often can't be sure.

I had a closer look, and it does have lights, but they are so muted I hadn't noticed. They are certainly not intrusive.

I wonder why they put them on?
