Press the home key to go back to the home menu, then swipe down. Press the AA tile on the home screen to go back to AA.
TBH, if you're doing that (pressing the Home button) then you may as well just tap on the HVAC tile rather than swipe down. ;)

Exactly, that's the issue.
It's an Android security thing, apparently. Something about overlays. (The later info software builds use a later security patch of Android).

I don't believe that to be honest, they overlay if you press the star button.

There isn't a HVAC tile on the Trophy.

Really? Didn't know that.

That's the "official" response as I recall. Maybe the star button overlay is implemented differently? 🤷‍♂️

I think you can double-press the AC on/off button. First press turns it off, second press turns it back on and takes you to the AC screen. Although I'm not sure that's consistent behaviour...
You're a genius.

In Android Auto, double click the AC button and the full HVAC screen comes up, tap the arrow on the screen and it goes back to Android Auto.

That was my only gripe with the car.

My Apple CarPlay integration is still flaky. Sometimes it just won't even connect with cable (even after waiting for proper boot up). If it does, it is fairly reliable but can still sometimes drop out. I am on R59.

I have a wireless dongle that was working really well but then an Apple update meant that it now won't connect stably at all. There may be an update for my dongle to cope with this... but I have gotten tired with constantly fiddling to try to make this work!

MG: just make it seamless please!

As an apple update broke it perhaps it's an apple issue not an mg one

I’ve had something similar, read about someone unbinding the car in the CarPlay settings and then doing a fresh setup / connection, and that worked for me. Although after going to iOS 26 I noticed CarPlay dropped out on me again yesterday, so maybe I have to go through the process once again.

It won't be Apple's fault typically because otherwise millions will have the same problem. It is usually down to the dongle / car maker in my experience.
I normally find it's the phone that's the issue. I remember a few years ago there was a common problem of Android auto connection dropouts, and another issue where the phone would lock up. These issues were happening on two different makes of car, the standard response was check the cable, in both cases the issues magically fixed themselves after a few updates.

Perhaps a type in screen where you can complain about your problem and the MG4 genie can look for the fix in the owners manual ..... it can then respond:

1) Did this fix the issue? Yes/No

If No:
Does this affect the vehicles driveability and is a safety concern? Yes/No

If Yes, an urgent fix has been initiated, the vehicle will self park and wait for a recovery vehicle to take your "too dangerous to drive" vehicle to the nearest dealership to rectify the problem .....

Do you wish the proceed with this action, Yes/No

If no to either of the above questions, do you want to record this problem so it can be addressed at the next scheduled service .... Yes/No

If no, We will pretend this never happened and you were just having a bad day :)

If Yes, do you consider this to be a serious issue that needs to be sorted urgently Yes/No

If yes, refer to item 1 and review your replies

If No, it will be recorded for the next service interval and marked as "Annoying problem" If this solution is not really suitable either, refer to item 1

2) Is this what could be called a first World Problem? Yes/No

If No, then refer to item 1 and adjust your replies as required .....

If Yes, Thank you Karen, have a nice day

Those dongles usually offer a web-based settings manglement page you can connect to.
That page may be able to find a firmware update for it that you can install.

Yes, thanks, I know how to do it, I was just venting about the need to fiddle with that again - when it keeps connecting and disconnecting it is a pain to get into the settings long enough to check for updates!
