Hi!!! Somebody collided my ZSEV and I will have it fixed but I need to charge it.

The thing is, when connecting it to the wallbox even as I lock the car it wont start charging. I can actually pull the charger cable off as if the car wasn’t locked.

Do I need to have it towed or is there something that might be stuck. :(

Check that the door switches are still working. It should show on the dash if a door is open. Our car decides to pause the charge if I open the door.

Especially the charge port flap/door. If the car doesn't see the flap open (electrically), then it may not wake up the appropriate computer to start the charge. [ Edit: But see next post... Sigh. ]

But it may also be the locking mechanism, including the locking motor. Examine that whole area carefully, including any possible damage to the charge port. If some of the pins don't make contact, then it won't start a charge.

As a point of interest, do Mexican EVs have a CCS1 port (round, 5 pins), or CCS2 (flat on top, holes for 7 pins, though often only 5 holes actually have pins)?

The ZS EV does not have any sensor on the charge flap door.

If you leave a door cracked, the boot not fully closed or the bonnet released it will warn you, but you can drive with the charge flap open for hours without being warned about this.

I have actually been comtemplating, trying to take the car apart a bit to see if there is some place i could stick a switch that would be engaged when the charge flap is closed and wire it in series with the bonnet switch. This way i would get a "Bonnet open" alarm if i had forgotten to close the charge flap.

Really silly of MG not to add a simple 50p switch in the charge flap

It is CCS1 - but it makes sense, I think it is damaged.

I will have it repaired via insurance.

Thank you all!

I'm happier without it... My dealer would charge me £350 to diagnose and change it ...
😩😂
They were asking a LOT more than £350 to fix my chargeport back in 2022. :)

Yes, it doesn't take much to write a car off these days.

My father was a panel beater and as a kid, all our cars were write off's that he bought from the insurance companies and fixed up.
