Hi guys got a 2023 Zs EV a month ago and not sure what is happening currently. I intially wasn't charging up to 100% as was using the granny lead. Now it charges to 100% the thing is that the percentage goes dwn whilst parked at work only once at 47-45% it will drop a couple of percent and then whe drive afterwards it really quickly loses percentage can lose up to 30% sometimes driving g 7 miles where as when driving from 100% to 50% can generally get 100 miles plus out struggle to get 40 miles out of second half of a charge. of it lucky to get 30 miles out of second half of a charge any idea why this may be?

Also out of curiosity is there any way that I can use to know weather the car has performed the battery balance operation or not or what is the sign that the car is performing it as atm it at 100% and still accepting charge whilst saying it is fully charged slightly confused?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You can buy an OBD dongle to plug in to the IBD port to check the SOH of the HV battery. State of health.
To battery balance leave it for a few hours after it reaches 100%.

Okay nice as for the leaving it a few hours after is there any way to know it is performing the battery balance as the car was accepting no power at all from my home charger and all the lights went off does that mean it has performance.ed it as it said charging complete and everything stopped so does that mean it complete as like I said before it said it had completed charge a d wasn't accepting any charge

Have you used the search bar and put a few words in?
If it has stopped drawing current then it has finished. The car draws a few hundred watts while balancing.

Had my ZS LR for 3 years and I still don't know if it's done a balance, checked the cell voltages and they're within a few mV of each other so I guess it must have at some time in the past. I wouldn't fret over it if I were you. I use the eZS app to check the battery.

It's all a bit confusing really . I've noticed in the ISmart app that sometimes it changes from Iong journey mode to health mode for short periods before returning to long journey mode . Also in ISmart that even though charge is shown at 100% the charger is still supplying power . Could both be balancing?

Remember there are two different charging protocols, depending on if you are driving the standard range or the long range model.
The standard range has no provision to reduce the charging percentage SOC lower than 100% due to the type of battery chemistry used.
It will charge ( then balance ) to 100% SOC at every charging session ( regardless of what SOC the battery is at prior ) so balance period is therefore likely to be very short and hard to spot.
The long range differs because it does offer the opportunity to set the level of charge below 100%.
Personally I find charging our long range to 80% ( health mode ) SOC offers enough predicted range to suit most of our needs.
Selecting long range mode in order to make the longer trips.
Regarding balancing of the long range pack, I have seen no evidence at all, that would suggest that the balancing process takes place when only charging to 80% SOC.
NMC batteries commence the balancing cycle, after the battery has reached 100% fully charged.
The Gen 1 ZS EV and the Gen 2 long range models share the same battery chemistry.
The Gen 2 ZS EV long range has a larger capacity though.
