MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Just received an update from Octopus regarding my order (LRTC in Silver, ordered late march, original estimated delivery 1st Setpember).

"The new delivery date is a true estimation due to the delays across the board which have unfortunately meant that MG have seen delays on all of their orders. You therefore have a new estimated delivery date of 31/12/2022. I do apologise again for this delay, I can appreciate the frustration/inconvenience this may cause and we are therefore trying to sort the best way of going about it. Please be assured we will be in touch with more information very shortly and will do everything possible on our end to push this along as quickly as possible."

This was a personal email to me, but sounds like all OctopusEV MG orders are being sent an explainer email in the next few days aswell.
When did you put your order through with Octopus?

I ordered Jan 2022 (MG have told me that the dealer placed the order with them early Dec 2021) and am praying I'm not going to receive the same email...

I get to pick up a nice shiny ZS EV Long Range SE on saturday (ordered in march) Had a phone call from the dealer last week to say he had one in black we could have (had ordered the blue) but had to wait for permission from his head office before it was a 'done deal'. As it's still the same model just a different colour we get to keep the £1500 grant, and I'm going to be a very happy chappie on saturday when I drive it away! :)
Obviously it's not the colour I wanted, but needs must, as my citroen cactus is feeling its age now... Already had to replace the radiator cooling electrics after the sensor resistor decided to blow a few weeks ago.. So it's come at just the right time..
My dealer is Stoneacre in Hyde, manchester.

Ordered in late March, I was a factory build, not a stock order.
Just had a lovely call with them apologising profusely for the situation (which is completely not their fault). My contact advised me that late last week (thursday I think), MG contacted them to say they would be delaying some orders. Apparently another call today confirmed it is affecting approximately 50% of all MG ZS orders placed through Octopus.

Apparently MG have said they are confident in the new timescales being given (mine being 31st December).

Octopus told me they are contacting all affected customers either by email or phone to advise them of their options. I was given the option to cancel or to swap to another vehicle but the advisor was again incredibly honest and said that there is basically no other vehicle on the market that can match the ZS in both spec and the price I confirmed at so I would probably be better waiting.

She also said that if other customers do decide to cancel they will reallocate those back into their backlog, so they might be able tp bring the date forward. They were also happy to put a mark on my order to say colour doesnt matter so they can allocate me a different colour (they offered the same for spec but I said to be honest unless they were going to be able to deliver a vehicle MUCH speedier, I would stick with the connect spec).

All in all, top marks for Octopus for the way they have dealt with me, but not so much for MG with the delay in the first place!

All of my contact with Octopus has been absolutely fantastic. Their team is incredible, very responsive to any request and give me regular updates (not that there's much to update on as MG are useless)

Absolutely the same, tbh I am just getting jealousy pangs and wish when I first ordered I had said sod it and ordered a Polestar!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 Our MD ordered one 6 weeks after I ordered my ZS and is now almost certainly gonna take delivery before me, and his wife who also orderedZS!!!

I setup the Octopus salary sacrifice for the company I work for and everyone I have dealt with has been brilliant!

I ordered 19th January and still waiting, spoke with the lease company yesterday and awaiting build date still apparently.

I have been given the provisional date of 28/09/2022 but I am not holding my breath this is the 4th date given.
A completely made up date!

A "true estimation" ROFL

A "true estimation" ROFL
Unfortunately all the lease company can do is repeat the information they are being given, so for now thats my estimated date. I have been told that MG have assured Octopus that the new dates they have been given are 'realistic'.

As mentioned above I have had nothing but good experiences with Octopus except the delay which is out of their hands, so ill just have to sit and hope!

New Years Eve is a Saturday this year. I would hazard a guess that this date is just a guess pulled out of the air and if you ask MG you would get the TBA response.

They are still trying to clear back orders for last year - but we have no clue what SAIC are going to make so we just sit and wait.

@Ukchris had been told his car is at sea for so long now that we think the pirates must have took over the ship on route ?

I doubt that information is direct from MG.

I also ordered in January with Octopus, I haven't had any such email yet.

is your tracker at the same point? I'm sure the 'Getting car ready' wasn't ticked before for me...

My tracker says exactly same as yours, has been on getting car ready for a good while. Not going to be happy if I get pushed back again. I have been waiting since November

Well, as far as I know, mine is still on a “shortage list, to be built, TBA“ take your pick,(ordered Dec 21) I just hope that I get it soon, as the Mercedes is starting to play-up (think it maybe an electric problem) and if it’s not soon, please be before October as it needs an MOT then, that won’t be a problem as I know it’ll pass…it’s more the electric problem, as every time I go out, I think, will it start?..sometimes it’s no problem and then, it’s like it’s got a flat battery, but at the minute, it will start after a few turns of the key, it’s not the battery, as the inside clock goes round and round, it’s something going…ho well…

Called the RAC out and it was the battery, got a new one for free…you don’t care really do you?..

Sorry if I missed something, but are you basing the battery being OK because the clock works OK?

The clock draws a near irrelevant amount of power, starting an engine puts a huge load on the battery, the clock running does not mean the battery is OK

Also to add, a failing battery can do all sorts of bizzare things to modern cars, so it may be the only issue you have with it... If you're lucky
