Someone is on a 'normal' standard tariff, why would they buy an MG4 in this example?

Here's a stat on average Joe's. 800,000 motorists a year break down because they run out of fuel. Lol.
More than 800,000 drivers a year run out of fuel
They also don't notice the poisons they are releasing as they drive around. To understand this better ice owners /average Joe's should drive into their garage close the door and sit in the car for say half an hour with the engine running and get a taste of what they force on the people and environment around them.
Londoners told to reduce physical activity on Friday due to pollution
Can any well informed person seriously ignore the increasing Climate anomalies in our modern world? I have Solar panels and I'm keeping my MG5 lr ex and wont be changing it for the new shape and instead have just ordered 10.5 KW house battery to be fitted before Xmas instead.

1) I won't take pleasure in other drivers running out of fuel, just as I refuse to take pleasure in EV owners running out of charge. I try not to take pleasure in others' misfortune, whether self inflicted or not.
2) Regarding your second paragraph, and reference to 'posions' they (ICE owners) are releasing and, as you stated 'what they force on the people and environment around them'
In light of these remarks, can you please present on the forum your full ICE car ownership history please. From your first car to now. And can you also add an approximation of any sub 5 mile journeys you partook in any ICE cars that you may have owned, which of course sees 'poisons' (as you called them) at their worse, when they (the short journeys) may have been attainable via foot/cycle or public transport.
In addition, can you present to the forum your (if any) full lifetime foreign holiday destination/amounts via plane please. If you ever have, of course. Given, of course, the 'posions' emitted per journey.
In this way we can analyses the heightened words such as 'posions' 'force on people' 'climate anomalies' in context of your own use.

Thank you.

@4ND - I am a big EV fan. I do think some on this forum are a little touchy when alternative view points are put and I would argue you are perfectly entitled to put alternative view points and ask questions. You are, however, going way off topic now and nobody here is required to justify their past use of any vehicle or the holidays they have taken to you or anyone else.

Wow. I actually agree with what I think the gist of what your argument is but I'd suggest that if you rein it in a little it might get more traction.

Hi,
Yes, I agree the thread has gotten off topic and I would prefer it if it reverted to its topic. Agreed.

Regarding justification, I was quoted and an argument was made against my post. This was very valid and healthy in a debate. However, I am then more than entitled to question and analyse this reply which was directed at my prior comments. I have simply said (in more words), if one wishes to use heightened, colourful language via the green preach tree, one is entitled to if that person has done any of the things which are now apparently so bad.
Previously, in another thread, you seemed unaware of what lurking was. I agree with the reply from @MoDolph above. Healthy debate is of course what we should have, it’s the reason I made a point of saying welcome when you perceived criticism. You are in danger of being mistaken for a troll (that’s another internet term, a bit like lurker)

Vastly reduced servicing costs.
because it's a far nicer driving experience than an ICE "Transportation Pod", especially a cramped, gloomy mini?
Not sure how driving a MINI EV would be less 'cramped' and 'gloomy' than an ICE MINI

I wondered when that one would be rolled out.
That's often what happens when people have different and warranted opinions, and question posts.
The key word there though is 'mistaken'.

Correct, you were mistaken

lol I hope not, as I put ESSO Supreme RON 99 in the three cars in our family!

It was actualy about $120 a barrel at its peak a few months ago. That gave us about £1.90 a litre.

UK petrol prices peaked at £1.91 on the 4th of July ish. Oil price was $110 a barrel, £/$ exchange rate was 1.21 to the dollar, since then the pound has fallen 8%. Just using todays exchange rate at $110 that give you a petrol price of £2.06. When the pound hits parity with the dollar with oil at $110 you are looking at £2.23 for a litre of petrol. These numbers don't include increased refining and distribution costs due to rising wages and input costs.

Yes, good point, the value of the pound also comes into play.
Still it's guess work though and we'll just have to wait and see.
Heck, I might have an EV then, all ready for the April energy price rise!

Fun facts, the last time we had this type of economic environment was the 70's. in may of 73 oil was $3.50 a barrel by August of 78 it was $15 a barrel and peaked at $35 a barrel in September of 81. This was a 1,000% increase in just over 8 years!

Hopefully back on topic. I really do not like the vilification of less well off people for not having the opportunity to buy an EV yet. Even if the total cost of ownership is less over the life of the car, many people do not have the capital, or credit rating, to be able to afford these cars.

Fortunately most of us here are comfortable enough to be able to afford such a luxury, many people are not. Telling them they are evil for choosing to feed their kids and heat their homes instead of buying an EV is simply not right. They are not choosing to emit "poisons" into the atmosphere out of choice, but survival.
