iSMART update

Normally, the difference between what the App reports as predicted range and what the car predicts on the GOM, is usually only out of sync by 1 mile has been my experience on our Trophy LR.
My regular charging routine, is to charge upto 80% SOC and use the car until it reduces to about 40% ish SOC and then recharge back up to 80% SOC.
This fits nicely both into our usage case and the five hour window of our cheaper off peak rate at night.
Charging to 80% SOC predicts a range of 212 miles on the GOM and has done consistently, since delivery in March 2022.
This 212 miles of predicted range is a default figure that I believe MG expect the car to predict in normal average weather conditions etc.
It can be seen in the charging screen of the info unit, when the green sliding scale bar is dragged to 80%.
80% should indicate 211 - 212 miles on the scale if my memory serves my correctly ?.
I do prefer to reset both distance trips before carrying out a charge also.
The default mode of normal / Regen level 3 is our “go to” driving mode.
Yeah - The Regen strength on the Gen 2 is not as strong as the Gen 1 model that we had previously.
A little bit more foot braking action required on the Gen 2 model.
Not such a bad thing as it gives the brakes a small workout, and keeps the disc’s rust at bay.
Yes, come to think of it my GOM normally showes around 212 after a charge to 80% but last night it came up short at 184. Interesting. Maybe I should try resetting the trips. My charge routine is the same as yours and for the same reasons.

New error yesterday when charging ... Our gym rather splendindly provides free 3-phase charging so it would be rude not to use it whilst pretending to keep my weight under control. Anyhow, as we came out and stopped the charge in the app we got a new error displayed as per below. The car charged just fine, and by the time we rreturned home we were back to the now 'ususal' charge port overheating message. None of the messages appear to have any effect on how the car charges.

Yes, I zero'd the trip and turned the heater off and up it went to 212 at 80%. I guess the lower figure is what I will see through the winter. Roll on summer!

They've really messed this one up, not only do we have spurious high temp alarms but I'm now in metric with no way to select it back it imperial, the tab is not responding. It goes to show that they have put the update out without proper testing. NOT GOOD SAIC.

You can switch it back to imperial in your profile under Measurement. Just swipe meric down, imperial will come up.

If your heater has been left turned on from the previous trip, as soon as you boot up the car the next day, after you have charged, it will automaticity deduct the expected / predicted range instantly.
I can leave you wondering 💭 why am I not seeing the usual 212 miles at 80% SOC today ?.
Because the heater is zapping the predicted range reported !.

Yep, that was it. Just never noticed before. Thanks.

Yes you can, you need to swipe between imperial and metric in the profile page, not just tap one or the other. Here's where I tried it an hour or so ago:

How this update passed QC is beyond me, as seriously every MG model and user has this issue. They only test on iOS or what?

Also, scheduled battery heating does not work. I set a timer 10 hours in advance, nothing... If I start it manually, it heats up for like 5 minutes.

What QC ???.
I am a IOS owner myself, but it’s a bit odd really because generally Android is a little more accommodating ( let’s just say ) with third party software than the very strict protocol of the IOS Apple products.
Maybe this is the reason ?.
I would suspect that they are on top of this Android issue right now, given the stress it has caused owners regarding these RED bogus overheating charge port flags !.
I would expect another software update fairly quickly.
I do remember clearly a glitch / bug that entered via a large software update on some Gen1 ZS EV’s that caused ALL sorts of problems with regards to both range and power output on some cars.
This corrupted software had entered via the official software package, updated by MG at the main dealers !.

IOS update is 1.0.8 and has no errors, just the 'droid version 1.1.7.
Not so sure there are no errors - I can’t get the little arrow showing the percentage to move. I’ve got a long journey tomorrow and 80% should be OK but I’d prefer to charge it to 100% just to be sure. Anyone else having this issue?
