MG4 V2L cable

Just got a V2L from EVcables. This has the IP66 socket. Looks nice and robust. And comes with a handy bag!

Tried new EVCables very briefly last night. Kept aborting discharge after a few seconds. Could it be the MG didn’t like the 45m 13A extension cable I was using?

Looks they have updated the lead from the first initial release of their V2L cables.
The newer cables ( like yours ) now has a IP 65 socket outlet, which is a good upgrade.
The early cables ( like mine ) does not have this IP 65 rated weather resistant outlet installed.
It could be a simple upgrade though, if required.

I can't see how the length of the cable could affect the V2L.
Exactly.

Try moving a load closer to prove the point.

Out of interest, you are setting the maximum discharge % considerably lower than your current state of charge?

Make your own and save a few quid.
I did other night with parts easily available.

Have you ever found out what the issue was? I just got my cable and am experiencing exactly the same issue. It comes on then it aborts after a few seconds :-(

Hi,

Does anyone know the max V2L output from the Short Range cars?

Thanks

(And sorry if I’m repeating a question that’s been answered I did have a look)

Another one that works OK. Bought from Amazon for £99, took few days to arrive but seems well built and quite happily powered a 3kw load. Seems well built and has a showerproof socket.
Just picked up one of these on ebay. £89 delivered. Not worth the DIY at this price for me. One left on the listing when I bought.

So my cable arrived today. Having a few issues. I can set it up, plug in our dehumidifier, works fine, plug in 1400W dyson & switch on, works fine. Plug in our sauna immediately cuts power even though sauna is off, plug in tumble dryer and the same, immediately cuts power even though dryer is off.

Anybody any idea why this might be?

Also, I'm sure I saw a video that showed a green colour at the car when discharging but mine is still blue.

Are there other earth connections for the devices which cause the cut-off?

Blue seems right for discharging - see:
