Comfort Pack 2 Update MG ZS EV

What is the difference with the new update. I got the car about 10 days ago, and do not think it has the update installed. The QT version is the same, but the SW version is different from your pics.
Thanks

Does your car show a GOM figure to the left of the indicated drive mode in the centre between the two analogue dials?

Simplest test is sit in the driver seat with the keys, leave the keys in the car and get out of the car. If it gives 3 short sharp sounds of the horn you don't have the update.

I never previously seen mine over 162, 150ish was typical over the last 5 months.

Perhaps i've just missed seeing it...perhaps its the warmer weather?

Whatever, I'm happier with the perceived extra range.

I will be testing it out for real in weeks time, as I try my 155 mile drive to Norfolk.

I have the range or GOM on display as it should be with the update, but still have the noise with the horn. I believe that the update perhaps was corrupted or didn’t full take and may need to be reinstalled. Waiting for a call back today from my local MG dealer to discuss further.

How about this then, very strange 217 miles on a full slow charge.....see photo

Blooming Heck!.......are you sure it wasn't swapped for a Tesla overnight? ......or have you changed the units to Kilometres.......
I think I'll try a slow charge next time.....

The full update requires 3 software updates are applied. Maybe they did not do them all. The last one takes a couple of hours.

I believe it maybe that you estimated GOM (range) works on your overall accumulated total in miles/kWh as mine is currently on 4.8, which would explain the sudden increase as normally I’m on 4.1 and a display estimate of 177 miles range.

Hi All,

Good news and bad news. I just had a lengthy conversation with my MG dealer and good news, there is a software update now available in the UK that deals with temperature reading and various other bong issues and a faster boot up.

Bad news is that although the software update itself is free (I suppose) the installation of it, isn’t. My dealer will “if I decide to accept the mission” (software update)) charge me their hourly rate for the technician who will carry out the update. Unfortunately, he is not 100% sure how long is needed but whatever time it takes will be charged accordingly.

Now here is the bad bit, once the software update is completed there is NO RETURN to the previous software installation and if anything goes wrong with the car i.e. something does not work when it did under the old software then the fix is again at the owners cost.

I build my own computers and others probably do as well and we all know how things can go wrong after a software update, so one must consider the risk before doing this. He quoted an example to me where they carried out a BMS software update on a NEW MG ZS EV and after the update the car would not start.

So, in summary if the bongs and suchlike are unbearable and you need a faster boot up and the outside temperature and are willing to take the risk there is a software update available (think it’s called Comfort Pack 2).

Frank

Hi Frank
Hope you don't mind me adding my bit on this topic.
I Just thought i'd let you all no that the temperature reading update is done with a usb stick and is directly updated to the Stereo Head unit "FCIM" this part affects nothing on the vehicle. This gives you the temperature reading and softens the bong every one hates.
You are correct that MG will not cover this under warranty and the update is at the owners risk.

The part that updates the BCM, the IPK and the Gateway modules is done by computer through sips and can only be done by login to mg. This part puts the mileage left on the HV battery to the left of the ipk where the time was shown. Auto high beam can also be switched on and of on the FCIM menu.

So basically if your really just interested in getting the temperature and the bong updated then all you would need is the files on usb and it could be done at home.
Some garages are charging over £200 for this but some just an hours labour.
I can do the usb update for Temp and Bong but I don't no if there would be legal implications.

Hi
Your vehicle may have the Battery milage in the left had corner of your ipk if its a mid June vehicle but they didn't get updated for the bong and temperature. the best way to check is can you see temperature as well as the remaining battery mileage on the ipk if you can your golden if you can only see remaining mileage your FCIM needs updating.

Agreed it’s not on to charge you more after investigating in the brand and helping it get established, we took the risk and they get the reward. MG need to take note that buyers are entitled to have the best of the product that they have invested in...shame on MG.
I don’t have FaceBook but perhaps a campaign shaming MG on social media would help changer their dinosaur thinking....
If you are only interested in getting rid of the "Bongs" would it not be possible to simply disconnect the power supply to the device in the cabin which is generating them? Far better than invalidating the warranty by having the Comfort 2 "Upgrade" downloaded. Any thoughts please?

Spoken to Toomey another MG dealer who said the update should contain all elements and therefore I have contacted Glyn Hopkins again as perhaps the software update was corrupted in some way. What I will add is that both dealerships were extremely patient when listening to my concerns.. updates to follow upon further comms with my main dealer either today or tomorrow.
Disappointing no returned call yesterday or today as promised.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, question, are you a MG EV Technician or is that just the "handle" you are using?

Hi Frank done all the courses on EV and all courses on the MG models except the new introduction to the new ZS that's being released to the dealers as we speak.

If you get three blasts on your horn when you've exited the vehicle you've either left the ignition on or you've left a key in the car. Hope that helps.
Not exactly true, if you have passengers in the car and they get out when you’ve turned the motor off, before you had the chance to open your door and the passenger exits front or back the horn will go. The problem is that at 03.00 am or I fact anytime after. 23.30 and 07.00 am it’s illegal as per the Highway Code and therefore MG should fix this as a recall as if the horn sounds we are breaking the law...

Yeah I've heard all that before. I believe a horn or alarm must not sound for more than 30 minutes. Correct me if I'm wrong
