Comfort Pack 2 Update MG ZS EV

I doubt this is the reason anyway. But just to correct this, we currently still come under the EU agreements. despite what everyone seems to think, we have not yet left the EU! Just agreed to at a future date, provisionally the end of this year.
Okay fair enough, but how to explain the difference between everyone except UK then?

No idea, Maybe it's what's considered culturally acceptable, Europe in general has more of a socialist element to it's politics and lifestyle. Here in the UK, (as proven by recent developments) we tend to be more right wing, capitalist, so perhaps it's culturally normal and seen as acceptable for companies to try to wring more money out of everyone?

I'm booked in for my Comfort 2 upgrade next Wednesday, 10th June .....we have not decided who's paying yet, but in the scheme of things ...I'm not too fused...looks like I'm the first one to have it done in Derby ;)

Wish me luck.....anything to get rid or those frightful BONGS and it I do get a little more range...that would be brilliant.:)

Congratulations on getting in there quick and looking forward to your feedback on the update Chrispydoc...

Hi All,

Good news and bad news. I just had a lengthy conversation with my MG dealer and good news, there is a software update now available in the UK that deals with temperature reading and various other bong issues and a faster boot up.

Bad news is that although the software update itself is free (I suppose) the installation of it, isn’t. My dealer will “if I decide to accept the mission” (software update)) charge me their hourly rate for the technician who will carry out the update. Unfortunately, he is not 100% sure how long is needed but whatever time it takes will be charged accordingly.

Now here is the bad bit, once the software update is completed there is NO RETURN to the previous software installation and if anything goes wrong with the car i.e. something does not work when it did under the old software then the fix is again at the owners cost.

I build my own computers and others probably do as well and we all know how things can go wrong after a software update, so one must consider the risk before doing this. He quoted an example to me where they carried out a BMS software update on a NEW MG ZS EV and after the update the car would not start.

So, in summary if the bongs and suchlike are unbearable and you need a faster boot up and the outside temperature and are willing to take the risk there is a software update available (think it’s called Comfort Pack 2).

Regards

Frank

I am very sorry to hear that MG will not carry out this software upgrade under the Warranty other Manufacturers do such work FOC, perhaps the SMMT need to be involved

Hi joining in if that's OK - we pick up our zs ev on Friday first ever ev for us - the dealer said probably £100 ish to add the software update but agree it ought to be free! Hope there is a change of heart on the cost.

Well, everyone/country except UK has trade agreements. UK doesn't and on it's own UK is a relative small market indeed if you compare that to EU and US. I guess that has something to do with it.
Norway isn't in the EU, I wonder if they are getting the update FOC?

Just got mine back, from the dealer, all seems OK but i've not checked everything...the Bongs have definitely gone, outside temp showing.....i've just plugged it in as i'm impatient to see if my range has improved from my normal 160.

They charged me £60 plus VAT, which to honest, I don't think is too bad.

Yes, it would have been nice to get it FOC, but the dealer has only been re-opened a few days after many weeks of closure and they are trying their best to get back on their feet...... I've no complaints.

@Chrispydoc, and folks well done all of you who have had your updates. A bit strange how some dealers are not charging while others are. Not sure why as all dealerships are on same contract with MG and the recent letter from MG suggests a charge.
Despite this MG letter about the c2u, the Dealership nearest to me seemed not to be aware of this comfort 2 update and I could not book for the update till today when they agreed for me to attend next week. It is just ridiculous.
Well, all said and done I guess one should be happy this is now sorted and the necessary improvements to the car will be on line next week God willing.
If all goes well, I will be refocusing on car app and battery / range issues thereafter.
For car app, I think we have to push MG till they offer us something.
As for battery, I think we may be deep in water. Unlikely we will get anywhere with MG. As I have mentioned in the past a lot of EV insiders believe MG could have given us our current ZS EV with a 60kWh battery at no significant extra cost but they chose not to. It is therefore very interesting that their battery making collabrators CATL, have now openly admitted that they are capable and production ready for a EV battery that can do over 500miles per charge and has a lifespan of over 1.2 million miles. More interesting is it cost less than 10% more to do this super battery compared to the current ZS EV battery.
Guess what, they are not prepping to put this super battery into MGs. These batteries are apparently going into Teslas. Why?... that's where the money is and MG/SIAC seem less concerned their own brand customers have lesser performing batteries.

I agree that the next step forward should be to extend the range....range is king with most potential buyers.

Early indications are not looking brilliant, very similar to before update. Let's give it a few days of use and see where we are then.

I will be trying out the other improvements tomorrow......but the lack of bongs is a great relief.

It's like driving my PHEV now.....but much quicker and comfier and capable of going much further. :)

Just taken the car out on a little trip around the countryside....total range now seems to be about 171 miles. :) I'm happy to attempt my regular trip of around 155 miles now.

Also Nice to see the outside temperature displayed.

Eco mode....no heater....I was going for maximum range!

I'd only gone a few miles when the range started increasing and increasing. It definitely needs a few runs to find itself .....but it is encouraging. :) ........until Mr. MG will sell me a better battery!

Talking of Apps, I understand that Tesler will soon start charging a monthly subscription if you want updates..

Oh yes it does sound promising...

Very impressed with economy after up date. My usual route from kings Lynn to Peterborough and back is 73.7 miles. Just got back and still have 97 miles left. Was in eco and level 3 kers but my route on the A47 is mainly national speed limit so I've stuck to the limits all the way and had the Aircon on quite a bit. So pleased I updated.
