MG4 doesn’t get warm.

In my experience, the internal temperature sensor works perfectly well. If you read the sensor data using the MG iSMART app, and compare the reading to another digital thermometer. The two match.
It’s the digital temperature gauge that is incorrectly set.
I read temperature as cold - comfortable - hot
And forget what those numbers actually are.
25-26 (middle of gauge) qualifies as comfortable in my books these days.
So it's basically a software fix?

That's just your interpretation though ... there's no proof that the sensor is at fault here. 🙄
And it is almost certainly the wrong interpretation as sensors are pretty reliable these days - much much more likely to be calibration or s/w problem.

I am not defending the lack of a fix - it is ridiculous that obvious issues like this exist a year later. And it is things like this that really put doubt into people's minds about MG (after the bad service, which is the biggest cause).

Actually that's not my experience. The internal temperature reading on the app is all over the damn place, and that's not even counting the random readings of 87 degrees that happen occasionally. The temperature scale on the central screen though seems entirely reliable so long as you knock 5 degrees off the number you see.

We bought a budget car with budget fittings. The temperature issue is not that much of a problem, just use higher number than normal. I can live with this forever. The other more important issues, that's another story.

I agree in part. But this is such a silly little thing one wonders why they can't just recalibrate.

I'd rather have a USB music player that works, a radio that stays off when you turn it off, the ability to disable the automatic locking, and keep the external temperature reading.

I'm slightly more hopeful they'll fix the internal temperature gauge and the over-enthusiastic lights, as the Trophy has these problems too. I have a feeling they don't care about SE owners at all.

SE owners don't get many updates, that's for sure, but then they seem to have fewer bugs. Not sure who is better off.

I certainly think the SE software is more stable. I haven't been seeing the intermittent issues Trophy owners complain about. But how hard is it to make a USB player work? These four things I mentioned are right on the Trophy (and indeed one of them was originally right on the SE too), it wouldn't seem that hard a job just to fix the code in the SE version.

I expect it isn't about how hard it is.

I expect it is about how small the coding team are at MG, how they are managed, the conditions they work under, their constraints and how bad a mess the code is in.

I used to manage IT projects and there were so often things that users thought were simple and obvious that we could have sorted but our hands were tied by the decision makers.

The heat clearly functions. All they have to do is to set 20C to be 20C, and not 25C. Easy adjustment.

Hypothetically... the sensor output might not map linearly to the actual temperature.

It might read 20 for 25, 19 for 24, 17 for 23, making a graph that's not a straight line.
The mapping might be different for every sensor. Maybe there MG4s on the road where 20=20, 20=25, 20=19 and everything inbetween. Just adding 5 wouldn't work.

Anecdotal evidence from this forum suggests that just about everyone reports a 5C (or thereabouts) differential. So even if you are right, adjusting the curve by 5C would at least make things much closer than they are now. :)

I have my MG4 set to 26C since day one. Perfect temp for me. I don't care if I have to set it higher as long as it works.

On 26 I think it's blowing cold air. Have to do some more testing.
One or two people have had cars with duff heaters - yours presumably has a heat pump? They can take longer to warm up than PTC heaters, the UK cars don't have heat pumps so you are mostly hearing from people with a different setup.

Bear in mind the A/C is manually operated. If you don't want it to blow cold air, turn off the A/C.

I have to remember to tell my passengers that I'm not trying to cook them. As the display is so visible from the passenger seat.

It would be nice to feel there was some willingness to do something about it all - especially the external temperature display, which was fine until they fouled it up. Rather than giving the impression that SE owners are less than the dog poo on their shoes.

I agree except that obviously SE owners are a lower form of life, who should bow to those holding their Trophies 🏆 🤣
