The MG4 SE 1100R33 Infotainment Thread

I'm finding it to be fine ... it's fixed a few things that previously didn't work (already mentioned), and I find the touch interface to be "snappier". AA also seems to start quicker.

Does the drop down menu work when in CarPlay? That might reduce thr need to flip from Home Screen to car play that made the shortcut on thr star button so convenient.
I found an alternative solution: when car play is running in the background, long pressing the voice activation button on the steering wheel brings up Siri. I can then look at the map for a few seconds while Siri listens for a command, after which the screen will switch back to the Home Screen on the infotainment system. Alternatively, I can give Siri a command such as ‘show maps’ or ‘show music’ and it will stay on the map or music or whatever other app view in the foreground.
Not as straightforward as a single button press, but easier than having to flip pages on the main screen

Re. an earlier question about Google Maps voice guidance ... I tried it today with the radio playing and it worked fine. In fact it was too loud - I probably need to adjust a setting on my phone. :)

I have a couple of issues with the R21.

I turn off the A/C, but as soon as I adjust the temperature up and down, the car automatically turns the A/C back on.

I disable the rear windows (for children), and every time the car forgets this preference (this is a serious matter... it could be dangerous for those with young children).

Are these two issues still present in the R33?"

Ref. AC - no idea as I keep AC on all the time.

Ref. rear windows - no idea as it's not a concern of mine. The only rear seat passengers I ever have are adults or my two dogs.

Sorry. 😐

As far as I am aware this locking rear windows behaviour is intended. Cars no longer have true toggle switches, just instantaneous buttons - so it is required to reset this on every journey.

I believe the argument is that the car should always default to having the switches work.

This is one of the big downsides to the modern obsession with cheaper switches but at least it is a real button and not one of those dreadful touch buttons with a haptic click, they are even worse.

The whole touchscreen-is-a-good-idea-for-a-car is a nonsense that people who work in human interaction design have known about for 30+ years.

Booking my SE in for the R33 update. Just discovered today that my car doesn’t preheat when plugged in but not charging. No idea why it worked previously, unless maybe there was a tiny bit of room for charge, but definitely didn’t work this morning until I unplugged it.

Garage have been great about it - no issues whatsoever, they’ve agreed to book it in and update it

I've finally got notification of which software updates were applied:

SC47 updated the CCU module (this may be why heating whilst plugged in not charging now works)
GW and IPK modules also updated
SCUK001 updated the BCM, EVCC and FDR modules
And the FCIM (?) was updated to 1100R33 on the pretence that I was having Bluetooth connection issues

Just awaiting info re. the SoH of the HV battery pack.

Why did you get all these updates?

Because the service garage deemed they were necessary per MG's service campaign.

I'm hoping that was a genuine question and not just baiting .....

Yes I got a call today cancelling my booking with Toomey in Basildon to have my rapid charge issue looked at because the servers were down .
Fortunately I've kept my appt at GH East London for a couples of weeks time open .+Just hope the servers are ok then!!

What about the temperature on the HVAC screen? Is it still out by 5 degrees?

What about your auto lights - would they still come on in bright sunshine if you put the original sensor cover back on?

Not much more outstanding that I can think of other than sort out the colour change in the SoC displays, which is clearly meant to go amber at some intermediate stage and then red at about 10%, and ALLOW THAT INFERNAL AUTO-LOCK TO BE DISABLED!!!!
