MG ZS EV
Hi all, I was just looking at the MG website to see if the prices had been updated to remove the plug in grant and it appears they have. Also I haven’t looked properly, but have they also gone up by £500 again?

Prices as at April 5th:

SE SR: £28,995 increased to £29,245 (£27,745 inc PiCG)
Trophy SR: £31,495 no increase (£29,995 inc PiCG)
Trophy Connect SR: £31,995 no increase (£30,495 inc PiCG)

SE LR: £30,995 increased to £31,495 (£29,995 inc PiCG)
Trophy LR: £33,495 increased to £33,995
Trophy Connect LR: £33,995 increased to £34,495

Best I can tell, all bar 2 have had a price bump. Happy for someone to correct any figures if I've fluffed them up somewhere.

I just checked the Danish site

If i want to buy "my own car" from new right now it is going to cost me £800 more than i paid 2 months ago.

Some of it is down to the price of the car going up, and the rest is because the towbar has gone up as well.

They have lowered the price of the Type 2 cable though. Before it was £370, but they now sell the cable for £174

Even more ridiculous, they wanted £350 for the V2L "Adaptor" but they upped that price to a whopping £555

I was not going to buy that adaptor at 350, but now they have it at 555 it would probably be very close to IMPOSSIBLE to sell.

An update to the above pricing as well as spec changes, from today's podcast.

From the 1st July, pricing & model line-up for the ZS EV will be as follows:

SE SR: £250 increase to £29,495
Trophy SR: £500 increase to £31,995
Trophy Connect SR: Model deleted

SE LR: £500 increase to £31,995
Trophy LR: £500 increase to £34,495
Trophy Connect LR: Model deleted

Live services such as weather, traffic updates & Amazon Music will be included in the Trophy trim.

Trophy models will no longer come with the panoramic sky roof, and will this will also not be available as an option. This will also affect HS petrol & HS Phev.

Crazy to think an SE SR will now cost about what some paid for the LR Connect.

I presume they're rolling in the connect services to fall in line with other countries that keep it simple with two trim levels. I do wonder though how they plan to deliver on them when it's the connect models that are barely materialising for delivery.

Unless their assumption is that at these prices, more people will go for the SE...?

surely this means that the trophy models have all the necessary hardware in it to run the live services and should be able to be added to anyone who currently has a trophy?

Not as I understand it...? I may be wrong, but I believe this'll only apply to Trophy cars built based on orders from 1st July onward. They will be produced with the necessary connectivity that the current Trophy doesn't have, and essentially they're the old Trophy Connect.

I think mg are now slipping with their prices seen kia nero 2 at £34495 and with the new lr not having sun roof people will deff start to compare who has the better value, thought mg was here to market value for money cars ,looking at the new prices not a great advantage having the trophy lr against the se lr £2500 for extra plastic seats (no panoramic sunroof),going to be a very interesting year ahead..

What i find funny with this is I am told my Connect is not being built due to a shortage in parts as the connect needs more. If they now make all Trophys connect they will be even more of a shortage.

I understand if there was not a shortage having less models to build makes sense.

The SE doesn't have the few things I want, and the £2.5k jump to Trophy just doesn't seem worth it for what you're actually now getting. I'll be interested to see whether it affects their future sales.

At this new price point it makes it easier for me to justify the Niro EV 2/3 when it comes time to change cars.

This is what I can't get my noggin around! So many apparent issues with Connect that we're here waiting, yet that's what they're going with as the feature.

Unless they've found a magic bullet to fix their parts issues, it just feels like a desperate attempt to make the Trophy trim worth the price bump.

I have to echo what others have said. The sunroof made it a no brainer for me to get the Trophy. Not sure I would have gone for the ZS so quickly without the sunroof. I am going from an 8 seater Toyota van to a 5 seater which the family are not thrilled by but the sunroof makes the car feel so much bigger.

I think without the sunroof I may have gone for the MG5 which funny enough people had in stock lol

But happy to wait for my ZS Trophy connect LR white. Also sounds like the sunroof models will be worth more in the future as "exclusive" models.

Resale price is what I'm now curious about, especially since there are dealers putting Connects up at £1k over list price already.

I have always been confused as to which 'parts' are causing a Trophy Connect shortage. All trim levels include the iSmart app for charging management etc, so all trim levels include a 4g modem and eSim to make that work, so technically they are all connected cars. It feels very much like a software switch/different software build for the trophy connect to include the extra 'live' features (live traffic, amazon music etc) rather than an extra chip? (think Tesla and their autopilot/full self drive feature which is essentially a series of software unlocks, the cars ship with all the hardware and chips required and software is unlocked for the features you want to activate, its just Tesla allow you to pay for that unlock at the initial vehicle purchase OR post purchase via the Tesla app)

HOWEVER, if it really is a different chip to run the iSmart live system, it could be that they are using a new chip manufacturer from July 1st so the post July 1st Trophy trim includes that new chipset, with the panoramic skyroof being dropped for cost/ease of build reasons (as they will only have 1 chassis across the range rather than 1 for the SE and another for the trophy/connect). BMW have done this on a number of models (which is why new BMWs are currently shipping without Carplay/Andriod Auto pending a 'software update', essentially their new in car entertainment chipset hasnt been programmed for carplay yet as they have having to recode from scratch for the new chipsets so are focusing on other features first).

I think it will just means that the Connect telecoms ECU will be fitted to the Trophy model

Hi All, I've been watching the Podcast for a while now but first time poster/commenter.
I purchased my LR Trophy in Black on 26/11/21 for £30,011, its due to get delivered today and i'm picking it up on thurs (upgrading from a 70 Reg Exclusive Petrol). As others have said, all in all i'm now looking at a £4.5k saving compared to the new prices. Interested to see how the next 12months or so will go once supply is sorted

Got to agree, fortunately got my trophy SR 3 weeks ago, sunroof was a big selling point for me,love the car, not too keen on the very sweaty leatherette seats, probably OK in winter.

Crazy times. But then not unexpected given the current level of inflation and supply issues.

Seems like a different world than when I ordered my LR Trophy back in November - £2.5k grant and a £1.5k deposit contribution, I think it was £29500. Even came with mats and a cable.

Looks like you got a better deal than me Merry! - I still got the mats included but had to buy the cable separate!
