MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Seems to be the Norm with Nathaniels as I have my order with them & I have to do all the Chasing!!
Seems to be the norm with a lot of car dealerships. My car (MG5) arrived at the dealership on Monday afternoon and I still don't have it. On Monday he said it I should have it by the weekend but would touch base with me on Wednesday. When he didn't do that I called him yesterday morning when he said he would call me back at 5. He didn't call me back then, nor this morning so I called him at 1.15. He said he was busy but would speak to me later and he was doing his best to "let" me have the car by the weekend. He still hasn't called and I'm sat here wih my blood pressure pinging through the roof. It's pregistered so does that mean it was used as a demo? Is there a problem with it? I need to know a timeline so I can have my insurance and GAP insurance in place.

Now, I don't know what's involved behind the scenes to get a car ready for the buyer, but I can't believe that it takes 4 days to get a car ready. Maybe I'm being too demanding but no effort has been made to communicate at all and it winds me up. God knows how you lot have coped with it since December and still not have your car.

Arrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!! So I’ve just had a call from my dealer who tells me he has good news and bad…….Firstly, the car is here for me and ready to be PDi’d.whoopeee! Secondly, the government grant of £2500 has been declined despite being ordered on 10/12/21 and all the paperwork has this date on it. He’s had to go through the appeals process now and that could take weeks or even months to come back!
So now, I’m in a situation where I know that my car is at the dealers, less than 8 miles away, but I can’t have it unless I pay them another £2500. Anyone had any success with these appeals? He states that there is no reason why it’s been declined but won’t register it until it resolved!!! 😡😡😡
For me the dealer needs to swallow the £2.5k for now until they get the money back from the Government and release the car to you.

Does anyone know if you can track your order if the dealer tells you your car 'is at sea' if you don't know which dinghy it's on?

All new cars have to have a PDI (PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION) which is done by the dealers service department, but this only takes 60-90 mins. Also all the new cars I've had come with 7 days fully comp ins plus 7 days gap, plus if your car is written of in the first 12 months insurance companies USUALLY replace your car with a new one( but then again we are talking about MG🤣🤣🤣)

Yeah I was estimating a couple of hours for the PDI, couple of hour to valet it and 8 hours to charge it to full, which is why I am starting to wonder if there's an issue with the car they're not telling me about.

It sounds like they don't seem to have very good customer services!!!

What are dealers contractually obliged to do if they haven't applied for the grant?
If the customer agrees to buy the car for say £32k list price less the £2.5k grant that the dealer is responsible for applying for, is the contract to buy the car at £29.5k
If they haven't applied for the grant shouldn't it be "tough, I'm paying the £29.5k that we agreed"
Just found this in an email from cars2 in Febuary when enquired about my cars delivery date
"What we can say is they are price protected and the government grant is secured, and they are trying to get them to us as soon as possible and it's just as frustrating for us as it is for the customers"
Sent it too them to see what they come up with now...

They may come to regret the day they sent you that email. With that evidence, your £2,500 is assured. If they disagree, a county court summons through the small claims court will secure it for you.

Agree, that is gold, find a good solicitor ASAP. You can get a free initial short meeting where you can get free advice and find out if they can take it on. You'll be claiming legal costs from them as well..

I would guess, they have a few cars that need charging and sorting out, seems yours isn’t head of the queue?..

And all it would take we are very sorry but we have been a bit busy preparing other cars yours is in the queue 2 more to do before we get to yours I don't think it's the delay that's the problem it's the not knowing? A bit of open communication goes miles

Mine did the same to me Car2 Barnsley...they came up with the excuse that don't apply for the grant till the cars delivered
We are with cars2 barnsley as well. Have you received your car? Was it a pre registered one or made to order please?

I’m sure when I used to administer my organisations leasing scheme it was about a couple of days was the advice but that was when cars were actually being delivered to dealers and sold to customers. As we all know mg dealers aren’t exactly rushed off their feet at the moment with sales or cars arriving!

Exactly, it's the piss poor communication and the 3 occasions of not calling me back that I am getting wound up by (Wednesday, Thursday and now today)

Hi all.

Great reading through your threads, very helpful!

Just to pick up on a point re: the sunroof. I ordered a ZS EV Trophy yesterday, from a car the dealer ordered in Feb as a stock car, so it has now been allocated to me. I asked the question re: sun roof, and the dealer read out their internal comms memo which read “MG will ENDEAVOUR” to supply the spec of car ordered before 1st July.

He was unable to guarantee that the car ordered in Feb will get the sunroof, only that I will be able to guarantee the price, before uplift in July.

The car I ordered has thus far not made it to the production line, and unlikely to before 1st July.

I am obviously worried about this as should it arrive without the sunroof, then because they endeavoured, they just could not do it.

bit of a gamble to be honest

Can you confirm which dealer it is? There shouldn’t be any stock cars on order that can be reassigned. Unless it’s actually a cancelled customer order and they have permission. MG asked dealers to cancel any stock orders a while back due to the level of demand as I understand.

Contractually, they would need to ask for permission to change the specification. I’m sure miles confirmed on the podcast it would only affect new orders.

I don't think they would get away with removing the sunroof from existing orders without it becoming a false advertising issue with trading standards
