I had a similar experience of the parts being authorised 2 hours after I emailed MG customer service in the UK accusing them of micro-managing the dealer.

I recharge mine when it gets down to 100 miles of range left which will cover any "emergency" that might crop up. If I need to travel further than that spending 20 minutes at the local fast charger won't make any difference to the emergency.

Part of the problem with the closing of schools due to snow is that it used to be local schools for local people. Now they've shut the small schools and built huge ones the catchment area is so large that staff and pupils are no longer within walking distance and have to travel miles.

The other option is to have an un-tethered charger and a separate charging cable. EV Cables do them from 2m to 50m. I keep mine hung up on a coat hook just inside the front door so its easy just to grab and nip out to connect to the charge and car.

The MGS5 only has rear wheel drive. Snow mode reduces the power to the back wheels so it's less easy to spin them and removes the regen so when you take your foot off the accelerator the car doesn't lock the back wheels. Beware OPD is not available in Snow mode.

That's a good average of 65.4 miles per gallon. In my diesel Focus I was lucky to get 40 mpg on a long journey but only 28 mpg day to day.
