I got a call from the dealership today, the vehicle I placed a deposit on has been taken into stock.
Unfortunately they are stating that due to the MG system for registration being down they can't Tax the vehicle for a couple of weeks.
Which the sales person stated was a good thing as it would allow them to look at replacement oil breather (if needed) and complete all the software updates (including lock-in fix)
It was due to be on the ramp in the coming days to take the lower undertray off and inspect what oil breather was in situ before requesting anything with MG
I was passing by, so popped in to see if I could take a peek at it before they prep it, so fresh from the port condition.
It has a bulge in the undertray, but other than that, the seats look tight and no creases, panels look nice and straight, plastic trim all fitted correctly and not signs of corroded wheel bolts I didn't see the SOC but the driver door key cover was off (in the glove box apparently) as they only use the physical metal key, during shipping. I wonder if there is a shipment mode, and this is being unsuccessfully turned off on some cars (hence some issues?)
If the MG Registration system is down then I said I would prefer to wait for a 23 registration plate, I have waited 5 months (deposit paid 01st October 2022) so I think a few more weeks won't hurt.
I also asked if it could not be washed or prepped as I would prefer to do it myself, those black C pillar pieces and the rear LED light bar are super soft, I would prefer not to have swirls in them (they currently look pretty good) That is no bad / disparaging view of the dealership care, I just prefer to wash my own car
