I do not monitor the efficiency as much as Kithmo does but the recent increase in temperature and today's longer journey has meant that I've seen 4.0mi/kWh for the first time in a number of days. The recorded journey distance was significantly more than the GOM reduction. Roll on Spring!

I think ARBP has noticed too. I plotted a journey that I might or might not undertake, and it was showing one less charging stop than it would have shown last week.

If there's a setting to say when you intend to travel so the app can estimate what the weather is likely to be like, I haven't found it.

Thanks for posting those 👍

Could I suggest a 2.5mls/kwh would be helpful too, as perhaps the worst case in Winter ? 😁
the 2.5 miles per kWh efficiency ranges

Hi

I’m looking to find out what sort of range you’re getting from the trophy long range please.
We got the car in October and in the warmer weather 14/15 degrees maximum range was 238 (we only got this for one day!) with everything (a/c off) and in eco mode but the most apart from that day with 100% charge has been around 189-198 miles.
Any thoughts welcome…

There are multiple existing threads covering this subject. A search on titles with the word "range" should point you in the right direction. In short, what you are seeing is completely normal.

I have had my car for over a year now so I have not been on MG site for a while till tonight. I was pleasantly surprised to see if for an SE SR you choose motorway driving it says 160m. This is very close to my experience. Nice to see they are quoting 323 miles in town down to 160 motorway driving.

Hi all.
Ive had my Mg4 long range trophy for 3 months, its advertised at 281 miles withnits 64kw battery.
When fully charged it used to show 276 miles of range, the last few charges it is only showing around 196 to 210 miles.

What has gone wrong?, its only 3 months old?, could it be an issue with the battery?, someone said it could need updating?.

Any help appreciated.
Cheers
One thing I've noticed is range and consumption is impacted by tyre pressure. Make sure the tyres are pumped up to improve efficiency. I'm sure cold weather, wet and the need to run heaters & demisters also impact performance.

demisting is the pain of my life with this car. No idea why it mists so much.

A number of people have said that, while others (including me) have said quite the opposite. I'm really impressed by the way this car demists. I'm not sure if it's a settings thing or if some cars have a fault in this area.

You could have a look at this thread.

The cars absorb a lot of moisture during shipping, standing at the docks and at the dealers. Mine misted up when I first got it but running the AC all the time has helped to dry the car out.

The Trophy LR has the 64kWh battery so if you look at the middle section for the figures I have posted you will see a 100% range figure of 189-198 means the car is assuming you will get 3 miles per kWh.

This will of course change with all the usual factors during each journey such as ambient temp, battery temp at start, length of journey, use of HVAC, gradients and traffic conditions.

If you can get the efficiency to average 4 miles per kWh a 100% charge should indicate a range of around 240 miles on the guess-ometer

Only 3 days into the MG Club, but reading through the forum I'm quite surprised regarding the miles per kW that people are reporting. Most people seem to be getting around 3 miles/kW which seems pretty poor to me.

We swapped out from a 2020 Ioniq and would often see 5 on a run, and around 4 in the winter. The car is still on my drive (waiting for collection) and is showing a long term average of 4.4

I'm also looking a used Tesla 3's at the moment and their efficiency is very impressive.

I think the ionoiq is a particularly efficient EV, in part due to the small battery sizes that encouraged efficiency. Personally I see 4.5-4.8 in the summer at normal speeds, 3.2-3.8 in winter, about 3 when the temp is around 0 and its a short journey, so more energy spent heating the car.

I'm afraid 3mls/kwh is about the norm for the MG4 over Winter 😒

No offence to the poster but Mods please please ... would it be possible to have a pinned sticky topic on Efficiency / Range that stay at the top ? There are far too many single seperate posts on this topic IMHO which just clutter the forum up.

My last charge was to 100% and balanced a few days ago, so that might skew the figures, but after I got on a 25km journey 11kwh/100km and on the return leg 17 kwh/100km. This averages out at 4.6 miles / kwh in late Jan. The weather was warm(13c) and sunny but the battery was cold from overnight (4c) and foggy. Beforehand I had been getting the same reported figures as everyone else. Regen on adaptive and not hanging around on hilly , fastish roads.

I know what you mean, but in several of these threads the OP has a particular issue, and in one or two cases there are cars that have obvious faults. Difficult to know which thread to consolidate on as regards the normal fluctuations, and how to handle people like @carmelo and @ROTS who seem to have a real fault.

I'm open to suggestions. Is there an obvious thread about normal seasonal variations in range where we could merge all these threads into?

Not for the MG4 as yet. I created one for the ZS. As with other merged posts like the app merged thread, I think that the best compromise is one merged thread for each of MG4, MG5, ZS and possibly general discussion, because users tend to stay in the forum relevant to their vehicle(s).
