Mark, could you update your details to show the correct car? Your profile is reading "not an MG" although you say in the post that you have an SE LR.

The worst I've ever seen from the GOM on my SR is 145 miles at 100% charge, and that was after a series of three-mile journeys in freezing conditions with a lot of pre-heating and the heater on at max while driving. I think that went down to about 132 miles when the heater was switched on in the car.

I tend to think that the 100% range for the SR and the 80% range for the LR are fairly similar, so maybe you're not far out for the winter range, as @tsedge says? I gather that the LR battery can take as much as a couple of hours to balance if it hasn't been balanced for a while, so I would let the car sit at 100% on an AC charger for as long as it wants. You can tell it's balancing because the app shows the finish time as the current time and the car is still drawing power (may show as 0.0 Kw but it's still doing it). When the app no longer shows anything for finish time or charging power, it says "not charging" at the top, but you have a figure displayed for "remaining range", then it's done.
How do I change the details to put my car in correctly?

Hey all. Here’s my current xpower readings. I take it the fully charge total would get higher as it warms up?
Yesterday after charging over night and driving in eco mode and average speeds. On shortish local runs, I clocked about 35 miles. And had the miles/kw at about 4.5. But it then settled at 3.6. I guess this mate have been coz the battery was warm.

Today after another 10 miles this has dropped to 3.1miles/kw.

On the charging dash it’s shows 100% at 178 miles on normal and 188 on eco. I did notice that the hvac was one. And when that was off it was a bit higher.

Whilst I’m happy with the m/kwh. Is the range range about right? I bought the care secondhand from a dealer with 3700miles on the clock. So just want to make sure the battery is ok.

Cheers

The range sounds normal for the climate where you are at this time of year. You should get 50-60 miles more in summer.

Thats about bang on with my Xpower range at the moment. Obviously lots of variables though, so don't worry too much if you only get 2.0 mls/kwh on short journeys in cold weather.

This article regarding range loss in winter may be of interest.
MG4 Trophy LR came middle of the pack ... but was joint 2nd best on Miles per kWh. Even the best performing car (HiPhi Z) in terms of range loss still only had an efficiency of 2.6, so it is inherently inefficient and has a large battery to give it its range.

What would be interesting is if they'd listed the battery chemistry and capacity for each car in the table.

The WLTP range listed for the MG4 is emerging for LR, they must have used the ER. However I think the range loss is consistent with what I have experienced with short journeys in the cold weather. (GOM 100% range now 227 and achieving 4m/kWh on longer runs.)

The worst 100% range I have seen on the app in winter is 145 miles, which is a 33% drop from the 208 WLTP figure for the SR. But having said that, it was following more adverse driving than described in that test, mainly a series of 3-mile journeys with the heat on at maximum

And the SR battery is LFP, which is more susceptible to range loss than the NMC.

Good spot ... 323 is not the WLTP for the Trophy LR. :)

Now, if they actually drove the LR, but accidentally quoted the ER's WLTP range, the car only lost 11% of its range, not 23%!

But the whole thing was probably done using the ER, and the report is just a typo.

I've emailed Electrifying to see if they can clarify. :)
