MG ZS missing V2L function

Probably worth mentioning that it's still affected by the faulty part was put in the ZS EV since Jan 2023, so if you have the faulty EVCC then the linked adapter won't work until you have that part replaced.

That timescale seems very strange. My local dealer changed the necessary part and, as it was the first one they had done they asked me to leave the car with them for 2 hours. They actually did the job in less than one hour so I am puzzled why your dealer wants to have your car for two days!
I've just got a cheap V2L plug from eBay which works well.
Hi Daver, Please advise which dealer sorted your V2L problem for you. I am in Harrow and have the same issue. I have checked the EVCC module and have the wrong one fitted to my ZS TC LR. I am waiting for an appointment with my dealer to sort it out.

Hi
I used Glyn Hopkin, St Albans who, after a poor start when they failed to return my calls and emails, actually impressed with their service. I did have an undertaking from MG that they would authorise the work without charge if "the V2L function was important to me and a deciding factor when I ordered the car"!

Thanks very much. Greatly appreciated. My dealer is Bushey MG.

This is a crazy, but not unexpected response TBH.
The face lift model was promoted as having V2L function, so why would you NOT want it to function as advertised as part of features of the car - I mean come on !.
Previously sold models already had the facility ???????????.
A bit like this, you buy a model fitted with an electric sun roof, that then does not operate.
So, we will correct it ONLY if was part of your deciding factor, when purchasing the car - REALLY !.
Basically they only intended to pay for replacing the incorrectly fitted module at the factory, for the customers who then complained about NOT having the V2L feature on their cars.
Totally ridiculous (n).

V2L not working. Car bought April 2023. Original MG cable purchased and still not working. Dealer is trying to get module replaced under warranty

I would reinforce to the dealer, that having a functioning V2L facility, played a HUGE part in your decision making process of WHY you purchased an MG over some of the other manufactures.
Therefore your expectations of receiving a fully operating function is STILL very important to you.
Switching out this module is a relatively a simple task, but the dealer requires MG CS to approve the cost of the replacement component and the labour charges.

Was the main reason I went with MG. Have been back and forth with the dealer since September 2023. Was only this week got an email to say they are trying for a module replacement. Very disappointed with the level of service.

Hi,

I'm living in south of France. Bought a ZS EV LR in December 2023, decision taken in one week (!) as the french government wanted to cancel 5000€ aid for all cars made outside of Europe, as per 15/12/2023.
Reading this post, I was quite afraid of the V2L functionnality, as like most of us, this was an important purchase decison feature !
But unlike in UK, V2L stayed on the sales leaflet, and even now it is clearly written (only for the LR cars anyway).
So when I checked the EVCC batch number , good news, I read 11505199, same as the one wich is working.
Then I built a V2L cable. I tied a 470 ohm resistor between PP and PE, and connected CP to PE, and it works ! We can see a lot information about those V2L cables : 'new ones' with a 2000 ohm resistor instead of 470 ohm, and also resistor between PP and CP instead of PP and PE. I haven't tried those yet.
It is strange, those differences between UK, Germany and France for the same car (except the steering wheel !).

In France, we can subscribe a contract with EDF (Energy of France) named tempo, with very interesting energy prices, except for 22 days a year, days with the highest energy demand (between 6am to 10pm) which are called red days
After buying the ZS, I subscribed to that contract.
In my home, I have built a source inverter, with a contactor which gives the ability to switch between the grid or V2L.
It's working. I used for two days now. I switch off all the big consuming loads, before using V2L.
I know that V2L is not V2H !
Voltage from the car is 220V, not 240V.

The cable is made with 2.5mm² wires which gives a limit of 16A (short length).
I think there is a load protection in the car but I've inserted a 15amp circuit breaker between cable and contactor.
I haven't tried yet what is the maximum load (only coffe machine 2kW resistive + lights + computer +internet + NAS) ...
Does anybody have reliable information about the maximum load wich could be drained from the ZS ?

Excuse my bad english, I don't practice enough ....

Up to 9A (2200w)
That's the official capability with the MG V2L cable (2000 ohm resistor). Users have reported around 15A for short periods of time, perhaps tens of minutes. My wild guess is that this should be a comfortable limit for the hardware, but without monitoring temperatures etc it's really impossible to know. The hardware can obviously handle 32A in the other direction (charging), but maybe MG don't turn on water cooling for V2L, as you might be camping in a location where noise is not welcome.

The Type 2 connector can handle up to 63A, but the charging circuit is built for either 3x16A (11kW) or 1x28A (6.6kW) tops. I assume the internal wiring was designed with these limits in mind.

I wouldn't recommend going above 2.2kW on V2L except for very short spikes in demand.
