I've just had a new consumer unit (fuse box) installed complete with surge protection as now advised by the latest regulations.
I'm wondering if there was a spike in the power grid that's caused the CCUs to become faulty especially as it seems a random occurrence.
We're seeing CCU failures across different makes (common 3rd party suppliers?).

It could be this, although they should be engineered to cope with a wide variety of circumstances.

My thinking is that they've got a bad component in use that isn't up to snuff and it is most likely this that has had to be replaced.

We can but speculate.

Update on post #17 - New CCU fitted on Thursday, at the same time as my first annual service (cost £67). The car now charges again perfectly on AC, it was charged today to 80% all from solar energy...........result!
