Motorway driving settings - including Tesla charging over 80%

Had about 20 miles per 10% battery on my Trophy on a recent run from Oxfordshire up to Elgin way, 3 people and a boot full of luggage. Bit worse on the way back as it was raining so extra drag to overcome on the tyres. Recommend avoiding motorway service chargers from 11-1400 as they get...

(quite) long trip this weekend - any advice/guidance?

My Trophy managed about 10% battery to 20 miles on the motorway at 70moh with 3 people and a full boot. Had a faff with some handshakes on the rapid chargers where I needed to push the start button in the car on the home screen whilst the charge was being initialised to get it to go. Total...

MG4 EV (air con / fan problem) noise

Wonder if a direct question to Mahle about if their pump is supposed to make this noise would actually get us an answer? Also even with heating on it might run the AC pump depending on requirements - AC systems contain air dryers that help with demisting.

    MG4 "forgets" sign recognitio.

Mine does it occasionally, assumed I was having a finger faff with turning the lane keep assist off.

    MG4 DC Charging Issue

Had to do this on one of the DC rapids I've used, car was showing connected but wouldn't start the charge. Worked fine when I started the charge on the charger and then selected the touchscreen button.

    Windscreen replacement woes

Picked up this delight this morning. Don't think it'll be a glue job as its already cracked on inpact. Anyone had a new screen yet?

    MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

The tyre gel is just sidewall blackening stuff. The front wheel sidewalls are showing they have been protected from road gunk - the rear sidewalls have not. This indicates turbulent airflow around the rear wheels.

    Battery Percentage vs Range

Normal use for us on a Trophy sees about 4 miles to the kWh, so at 60kwh that's about the 240 miles. Motorway running reduces that significantly to around 20 miles per 10 percent of battery - max 200 mile range. Oh and it's summer not winter, that'll really crimp your range, used to double the...

    MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

It's got to making some difference or why would they spend the money on the thing to both build and fit? Don't think it's sole job is to keep the road crud away from the power train as you could achieve the same with less plastic and arguably less cost. To me it's a dual function part...

    Manual Divergence from model

I've noticed that the app versions of the manuals are now starting to diverge away from the car. Example being the Aircon stuff is now the new interface imagery - car side is still the 'old' version. Seems a bit of a pain that the app based reference stands a good chance of not reflecting the...

    AC Charging Amp Setting

Been doing a lot of non-standard charging as away from home at the moment. Normally just plug the Zappi in and it charges at the expected 7kw. As I'm using more of the public network for a change I've been interested in the charging rates for the various bits of infrastructure I've been using...

Peugeot undercutting the MG4 with the e208? - No they aren't, I made a mistake!

I got used to the slightly different ergonomics of the steering wheel - it is a small wheel which feels a little odd a first too.

Peugeot undercutting the MG4 with the e208? - No they aren't, I made a mistake!

Had an E208 GT prior to the MG4 for 2 years. Not a bad car and at the time it was that, a Zoe (no good as you can't adjust the height of the driver's seat and the wiper arch was on my eyeline) or something a lot more expensive/ a lot less range. Not a bad little car and less car side software...

    1st really long trip

Yep but not on this trip, it was noticeable but not quite as jarring as it has been on A/B roads.

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I have and on twisty A roads it was much better. But it kicks it out of eco mode to do that and unless I'm driving the car on some fun stuff I'd like to keep it in eco mode. Cake and eat it I guess 😁

    1st really long trip

Headed up to Northern Scotland from West Oxford on Friday and planned a night at Sterling prior to pushing up to Elgin area. Grand total of 550 odd miles with a lot of motorway stuff. Good overall, car behaved well and was comfortable for the long run, confirmed Stuart from YouTube's range...

MG4 Spotted! : Was it you?

Saw probably the same car parked in Asda Elgin this afternoon - it was parked in the disabled bays.

    MG4 Air-con & Under tray update

To my ear (25 years as an aircraft mechanical technician) it's definitely a metal on metal contact and isn't something that should be apparent in a pumping system! The 'chirp' I get isn't correct regardless of what MG might be pedaling and the 'they all do that' argument doesn't mean 'they all...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

Couple of points regarding the highly controversial outside air temperature sensor. For climate control to work effectively the system needs to know both internal and external temperatures so it can regulate correctly. In modern vehicles it makes sense to use this sensor to also drive a low...

    MG4 Air-con & Under tray update

All interesting reading on the noisy AC front. The previous spot of reading I've done into modern AC pumps is ambiguous at best - some OEM manufacturers suggest that oil is already present in the pump, others that it needs adding prior to AC coolant fill-up in the system. What is clear is that...
