    Charging update

Solution: Threw the Powerline extender into the bin and bought eero extenders. Works perfectly with no interference with the charging of the car. Another mystery solved.

    Charging update

Fortunately for me, the resolution is simple. I disconnect my wifi extender while I charge and reconnect when charged. A permanent solution is being devised as we speak.

    Charging update

My 32amp circuit (7kw) is seperate to my granny circuit, but it was explained to me that they both attach to the buss. Although I have three phase on my home, all of the circuits in use are attached to a single phase.

    Charging update

Several weeks ago I posted an issue with my 2021 ZS EV. Briefly, the car refused to charge on my 7kw home charger and my granny charger. Took the car to the dealer for assistance and to get my second annual service. The dealer serviced the car and updated the BMS and OBC (on board charger)...

MG ZS EV Battery charging issue

I have a 2021 MG ZS EV that is now coming up to two years old. Currently it has 30,000 kilometers on the clock and is due for its second service in a few weeks. Normally I charge at home using a 32 amp circuit. My charger allows me to select the amperage for the charge - I nearly always...

    Charging practice

Thanks Miles, The information you provided was very useful. It appears the vehicles are about the same age but I have done about twice the milage. It appears that my 5% loss is comparable to your 3% given the milage difference. I live on the Central Coast of NSW, we don't have the heat you...

    Charging practice

I have had my ZSEV for nearing two years. I have always charged the car at home and generally to 80-88%. Over the two year period (35000 kms) I have balanced the battery about one a month. Yesterday after the balance the car registered 251 Kms (N) and 263 (E). I have read on this forum that some...

    Battery degradation

I live on the Central Coast of NSW and I have owned my ZSEV since April 2021. Early in its life I was using it for casual short trips, but since the price of fuel has skyrocketed, my wife has taken a fancy to it and drives it daily. Currently it has 22000 km. She is a little more aggressive...

    Battery degradation

I have had my 20-21 MG ZS EV now for 12months (15000 kms). I have noticed that after a full charge and a balance I now have 257 kms range showing (not the 263). I was expecting a reduction, but was not sure of how much. Has anyone else noticed a range reduction similar to this?

    Breather pipe

Given what you have just said, which sounds reasonable, on closer inspection the black pipe has an opening for perhaps pressure release. But, the gold post does not seem to have an opening, unless it is designed to give way when excessive pressure exists. Gold post people might be able to confirm.

    Breather pipe

In the old days if you weren't a good boy or girl you would get a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking - now that coal is the black demon that destroys planets, you simply get a black pipe for your EV. There is no way Santa comes to the southern hemisphere first. He starts up North and...

    Breather pipe

That's not nice Lovemyev, you know as well as I do that Santa does the Northern Hemisphere first and by the time he gets to us he obviously has no more gold posts left and we end up with the black plastic pipes with a cap.

    Breather pipe

We must have different rules here is Australia. Components under the bonnet bear the part dates as 16 December 2020. The door sills have a recorded build date as December 2020. The rear door sill has a compliance date of March 2021. I purchased the vehicle is April/May 2021 and it was first...

    Breather pipe

Well, that's confusing. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the distribution of the gold post or black plastic pipe. Maybe you have to pay more for the gold post. We're a bit tight down here, maybe we just get the plastic one. I'm pretty sure I didn't see it on the options list...

    Breather pipe

Johnnybee, As you say, it could be some type of pressure relief valve, but the unusual thing is that you and Kithmo have described it as a little gold post. It seems that on Southern hemisphere vehicles it is a black hose with a loose fitting cap. I would be interested in knowing if all...

    Breather pipe

The ZS EV has one of those too. Its called a bonnet - maybe they should have welded it closed.

You're right, that does appear to be the case!

    Breather pipe

Sometimes you have to chuckle. The forum contains a huge amount of technical information. Incredible stuff like, how to access coded settings in the vehicles computer, SOC %, SOH, BMS details, the percentile variation between battery cells during and after balancing. And who could forget the...

    Breather pipe

After nearly a year on this forum, that is the clearest and most concise response I have seen. Not only that, its probably the first one I have understood.

    Breather pipe

Excuse my ignorance, but would there be a difference between the colder climate countries and the warmer ones when it comes to the necessity for a breather pipe?
