How do I tell if my car is a GEN 1 or GEN 2?

Hi If your car is 2022 it could be either gen 1 (2019-2021) or gen 2 (2021- present). There is no long range gen 1 - all three models had the same range, around 160miles fully charged. Gen 1's have a charging port that swings upwards. Gen 2's has a charging port that opens to the left. And as...

    Not gone, but not used..

Love that! Driving electric is just a different mindset, plan ahead a bit, keep if fully charged if you use it a lot, and try not to live too far away from anywhere! I've loved having our MG for 4 years now, and only 2/3 times a year do I need to do a journey that it more than 150 miles (or...

ZS MK1 Range and your experience?

We frequently go from London to Loughborough on one charge, often leaving us with 30 miles left. Not quite as much in the winter but definitely still do able. There are plenty of motorway chargers on the way to top up 10/20 miles in 10min just in case. We have an exclusive which has held up...

First MG ZS EV long journey...

If you've an LR you should be able to do it in one go surely? If you go m4, then jump down to the A303 via A33 that is the shortest route, 183 miles. But even going m4/m5 is 192 - winter range is about 220 isnt it? As others have said, the A303 is better if you're worrying about mileage...

Saving driving mode with the MG ZS EV 2022

Anything under 50kw will do an equalisation i believe. Rapid is only 50kw and above. Fast and Slow and 50kw and below. Basically if you use the Type 2 cable, it will equalise.

    Let's have some positivity......

I agree Steve. I love my Gen 1 Exclusive, despite some of its faults. It was a bargain at time, but even if EVs are more expensive than their ICE rivals, I think paying a bit more is worth it to keep fossil fuels in the ground. That was my main impetus for going EV.

What's the lowest you've ever let your battery get to, and were you worried?

I have frequently gone under 5 miles, after which on the Gen 1 the range is replaced with a dash (it's sometimes 10, not sure why). This is partly due to the availability of fast chargers near where I live. The council have put 100s in lamposts within a mile of my house. But also, using Google...

    Mk1 service plan

Just got my second year service done for £150 at Richmond MG in Guildford. They quoted me £260 but I didn’t complain…software update done as well as seemingly fixing the intermittent air con issue, without actually doing anything. I wonder if it was the pollen filter?!

Should I cancel my ZSEV order because of rising energy costs?

Day to day driving in an electric is cheaper than an ICE, probably by half. Even on a motorway, but especially on A/B roads. If that’s your rationale for saving money then I would go for it.

    Mk1 service plan

I rang around a few places for my 2020 Mk1, with 18k miles. Three MG dealers quoted the same price of £260 for a second year service - apparently MG sets the price. They were also booked up 6 weeks in advance

How to fast charge my 2022 ZSEV on public chargers? Having problems

I have always started charing with the car off. For non-rapid charging, plug in, lock the car and then activate the charger. As each company has different systems it takes a little while to work out which works well. Always best to get any App and use that. I've never got on with the source...

    Service

Might want to check the price on the phone - I called 3 MGs within 70miles of us and all quoted the same £260 for the second year service. It was the price MG ask them to charge apparently.

    Tesla Destination charger problem

Worth reading this. The Tesla Network is opening up to all EVs. Only a few places around the UK at the moment but worth it if its on your way. You just need the app. https://www.electrifying.com/blog/article/it-s-official-tesla-opens-up-uk-supercharger-network-to-non-tesla-drivers

    Hi... New owner here.

I have a 2020 Mk1. I can confirm Rapid CCS charging you can lock and unlock the doors as much as you want. You can also turn the car on to see the incoming charge rate on the dashboard. With any other charging I just lock it and wait for the tell tale 'creak' sound to work out if it's charging...

    Air con randomly stops working.

I have this exact problem too. Will get it booked in. I cant imagine it needing re-gassing as I barely use the aircon.

    Gridserve Transition Completed

Good to see that apparently all Ecotricity chargers have finally been replaced by Gridserve across the whole country. There are also quite a few big Gridserve hubs under construction. As well as also rolling out the ability to charge two cars from one unit, although I don't know quite how...

    Mg smart app

Did you have the generation 1 MG ZS EV? Or another elec vehicle. Is it using the app with rapid chargers or just rapids in general, because the rapid chargers do get some getting used to. Some brands are much better than others, and I find on long journeys I gravitate towards the good ones, and...
