I've had mine done, at the same time as its first service. At night, if you look carefully in the rear view mirror, you can see the reflection of the centre brake light on the rear wiper and on street furniture. It works exactly as it should now and it feels totally comfortable to drive...
Yep. Spot on. Full charge on the MG 5 is in the low 400s voltage range. Eco mode with HVAC off will give you around the 214 miles mark and this will vary with outside temperature.
On a Rolec smart charger, that is unlikely. The amount of time the car is connected has no bearing on whether the car will wake up to charge.
The problem is purely due to an incompatibility due to the way the MG expects to be signalled to wake up. This wake-up signal needs to be initiated by...
@Stuwit46 I'm sorry to hear you are also struggling with your charger. Take a look at my thread for Rolec smart charging issues:

Today's trip home from work combined with two school runs. I can't sustain this every day, some days I get 2.9, but today is 4.4 miles/kWh. I have noticed that the most dramatic effect on fuel consumption is not driving style, but outside temperature. When it's +6C or below, particularly when...
Final update. Success at last!
The Ohme charger has been successfully installed for around 3 weeks now. And, it works flawlessly.
I've also had my smart meter installed (another long story, which involved me needing to take down and modify the kitchen cupboard to make space for the new meter...
I have the mud flaps on my 5 as a dealer fit. Anecdotally, they appear to make a significant difference in keeping the sides of the car less dirty, despite them being so small they don't look like they'll do anything. They're not 100% effective, but the car seems to get less dirty than my Honda...
Yep. Same. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, with no fuss. There's nothing to post really as nothing has gone wrong. It's a decent estate car that drives beautifully, and that's all there is to say really.
@Petriix I couldn't agree more. It is a pity it doesn't work, as the fix is relatively easy.
It does seem to be the case that SAIC are implementing non-standard CP protocols. However, it is entirely SAIC's/MG's prerogative to implement a proprietary wake-up signal. There's nothing written down...
Update to my situation.
Following troubleshooting with ev.energy and Rolec, by mutual agreement, Rolec have kindly agreed to take the unit back for a full refund, as it does not meet my needs. The Rolec HomeSmart EV charge point will only smart charge the MG with a workaround 6-amp keep-awake...
Yes, it can. Switch it to auto and then switch the aircon off. Every other aspect of the climate control will remain in automatic mode, except the aircon, which will be off.
Having said that, my understand is that the electric aircon compressor spinning is a minimal draw (although I'd be...
Sorry, I hadn’t thought of that, but yes you are right. On the other hand, am I right in thinking that with the manual climate control, once the cabin is warm, as long as you only dial in as much heat as you need, it will not draw too much power?
The heater is extremely powerful. Most of the time it is not on constantly -- it pulses the power to regulate itself. Also, with the climate control in auto mode, it will regulate the cabin to the temperature you tell it to, so once it's up to temperature, it will not use as much power.
@greentangerine
Indeed. The problem is, how do I now get things fixed?
Ideally I'd like to send the Rolec back and get a Zappi or any other charger that has been proven to work. But, how do you send a charger back that was partially grant funded?
@LouiseT
I've tested the updated Rolec software. Unfortunately, it's not good news.
With trickle charge mode turned off again, it simply doesn't work. When I plug in the car, just like before, it gives an initial charge for a random period of time, then shuts down and schedules an overnight...
@Richie
Are you aware that I thanked Les, for being the voice of change, on page 8 of this very thread, which you can find here?

Please scroll down to the bottom of that post, where you'll see Mr Burrows liked it.
I still stand by that post.
The fact remains -- this is now...
