Morning all,
Given EVs becoming the norm (well ish... :D) its no wonder we will be paying car tax from 2025, but does anyone else think that the additional "expensive car" threshold of 40k is going to catch a few people unaware?
Most EVs (bar the lovely MG) come in over 40k and by my reading...
What i used to do ( before moving to intelligent tariff) to do a flat charge on cheap was setup a schedule as follows
Charge set on everyday to 100% target
Set to price cap
Make sure ohme has the right tarrif selected.
Then you can plug in any day and it will only charge at the reduced cost...
looks online like a larger "compact SUV" shape but with bonkers power - there doesnt seem to be much about it in the UK press so i was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about if it might come to the UK?
hoping it might be another cheep and cheerful option as they try to build a...
Just for a bit of reassurance I had my ohme fitted by octopus, and for my installation they were fantastic.
It admittedly was a bargin price (when octopus was doing their fixed install costs so I had the whole thing done for £450 that's ohme pro and fitting! Years back now mind...) but there...
a bit of a crowdsource opinion please... im looking at getting a dashcam, never had one before,
whilst im sure the NextBase brands are all lovely, but they are also well into the hundreds which got me thinking....
is it worth getting a cheep Chinese no brand ones from AliExpress etc for £25...
i managed to completely blank a fellow MG5 driver (same colour as mine as well!) in Amberly car park as i busy was sorting the kids, only clocked them leaving the carpark just before me. felt bad about that one!
the only other times i havent waved is when i thought the oncoming car was a VW...
i had the same problem (i'm on Octopus Go) - and i think its happened again at the moment on my account (thanks for the reminder!)
i think what happens is anytime there is a power cut at your property their reporting system blips and doesnt know what to do with a gap in time and requires a...
wow, a to the penny response! good work Sir.
i'm amazed how much the cable ends cost at the moment, they seem a ludicrous price (everywhere) - i hope that as time goes on these drop considerably
out of interest how much did the sparky charge for the commando socket? i would have guessed that at £300 (never found a sparky take a job for less than £250 :D) hence why the £499 all in installed seemed good to me, but more than happy to be wrong!
not on go yet, smart meter installation is booked for next week so on the path to get to Go tariff asap, but as per the math i did, even if i swap to Go and charge only on that tariff it doesnt make the meter installation (money wise) worth while.
i suspect i'll hold off a few years and hope...
Morning all,
since getting my MG5 i've been granny charging at home, and 7KW charging when out and about (thanks Tesco!) but was considering getting a dedicated 'fast' i.e. 7KW charger at home but the finances dont add up for me...

Sorry for newbie questions..... havent actually got my EV just yet but looking into cables for tescos etc ;-)
now i understand i need a type 2 to type 2 cable for the public chargers that arent tethered (non fast chargers) but there seem to be different types of type 2 to type 2 cable
single...

I haven't yet started thinking about home chargers (just put the deposit down today), I was going to give it a few months once it arrives to see the milage and how it...
